Help with Energy Suspension Compression Rod Bushings
The old bushings are out, but I just can't get any of the bushings to fit on the non-tapered side of the bushing hole. It goes in easily on the tapered side. I have the bushings in the freezer now, so maybe that will help shrink them. Are all four bushing (halves) supposed to be identical? It seems like if the bushings themselves had a taper, I could get them in.
Thanks for any suggestions. I didn't expect to be without the use of my car for this long.

^Freezing the bushings for a couple of hours worked for me.
Also use the lube very generously. You could also use a large C clamp to press the two bushing halves together. Just make sure that the bushing is seated correctly so it doesn't pinch the edges.

I turned the freezer to the lowest setting, left the bushings in for hours, consumed a lot of alcohol, and everything fit much better! The original problem was, I couldn't even get the bushings (on the non-tapered side) started, so no amount of force was going to work.
Yeah, it takes a lot of lube. Be sure to install the bushing half in the straight side of the arm first, before you insert the metal sleeve and the other poly half. Lube the crap out of everything.
