rear caliper bolt blocked...

Is this on all 1st gen G35's ?

On my AWD sedan, when doing the rear brakes there are 2 14mm bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket. You can get the top one easily but the bottom one is blocked off by some link. There is no way to remove that bottom bolt at all.

Its an easy work around because you can just take off the 2 larger bolts holding the bracket the car and the caliper and bracket come out together and then you can get the slide pin off.

I'm just pissed because i wanted to quickly relube the slide pins found out i had to go thru a little more steps to get to the lower slide pin, and to find out one of my lower slide pins looks stripped at the head.

Picture please....

There is one bolt that requires a wrench not a socket on the RWD G35... I have yet to see the AWD setup.

you have to take the bolts on the bracket loose so you can get the caliper guide bolt out

I had no issue....I used the closed end of a wrench on all 4 bolts. Much easier to break the bolts loose.

Put on closed end, and whack the other end with hammer. Did the trick.

getting to it was not an issue. Socket wrench up on and open end on the bottom broke them both loose, but when pulling out only the caliper bolts its just blocked. Pretty dumb design but i guess it could be worst. I just felt it was a little more then required for me to just lube the slide pins. Obviously had i been doing a full brake job, i wouldn't have an issue or bitching. I did the brake job 3 weeks ago but i didn't have any lube to get at the slide pins.

I did rear brakes this last weekend. I put the floor jack under the hub assembly and raised it a smudge. It allowed me to get the lower pin past the link that was in the way.

i take the bottom bracket bolt out, take the top one loose so you can pivot the bracket up enough to slide the guide pin out. vwalla!
