Just ran across the Umbrella Auto Design VRH System and I'm intrigued. I tried searching but haven't found a lot about it yet, hence the link to a NSX forum. Has anyone dealt with these or know anymore about the system? I saw an article about someone on here using this in their sedan but I dont remember who.

I'm looking at this for a set-up for road course racing but is also street driven. I think this could be very useful to me with the conditions of our roads and parking lots in my local area, plus making it easier to load the car into the trailer for track weekends let alone getting a jack under the car. Unfortunately it would be added weight, but I'm not too worried since its just fun for me.

I understand how it works, I'm just worried about how it will hold up against track time. They claim it doesn't affect handling or performance, which I can see being valid although I'm skeptical until I see it in action, but I'm worried about how they will hold up to the added stress and pressure from the track.

I'm also curious about the construction inside the cup sleeve. I'm assuming there is a small bag inside the cup similar to the bag used in air bag suspension just on a smaller scale, but what what comes in contact with the spring? Is it an aluminum plate or the bag itself?

It looks as if the company originally designed this for the new Skyline GTR so I would assume they designed it for track use, but who knows.

it won't have any added stress as long as you don't race with your car lifted, don't know why anyone would.

the cup is an air power piston, there is no bag. it's retro-fitted to the coilover, "cupping" the top.

this tech has been around for a while, mostly being used on exotics as an OEM option.

I was watching some videos from the link I posted above and it doesnt seem to lift very much. Only looked to be a couple inches. What is the lift amount? Have you noticed if this has been enough for most instances you have needed?

 

it's lifts higher than stock and has cleared on every instance, even on extreme slopes

 

I'm really liking this idea, it would make loading the car a hella lot easier on trackdays, and save the front end on the street I'm sure.

What about the rear? Can this be used on our rears since we use separate springs?

And how loud is the compressor? In the videos it sounded loud but that may have been the car or something else.

 

they don't offer them for our rears, owner said that w/even w/a true rear setup there wouldn't be enough space. i'm sure if you offered them enough money they'd do it but there's no point to lifting the rear anyway
