Grinding

2007 G35 Coupe. I've had a some strange and random grinding noise coming from the front of my car. It happens RANDOMLY when I first take my car out or it's been parked for a few hours. It doesn't happen too often, but it's been since maybe 2009.
I'll be pulling out of a driveway going forward and if I have my wheels turned and step on the brakes it will grind and have to let off (right away cause it freaks me out) and apply brakes again, the grind will be gone.
I've taken it to the shops and they don't seem get that problem and explained that the car needs to sit for a few hours.
Would anyone be able to help me or know what's going on? My brake pads is still good, so I'm not sure wth this is.

In my personal experience if its extremely loud and only when you are turning your car on from a cold start, its more then likely one of your belts. There are two of them, replacing them should be around 100-150 depending on where you go.

Hmmm I've been wondering the same thing my gf's Altima (08) does the same and she's just had her belts changed. I'll be changing mine soon. Looking forward to hear if this helps or there may be any other ideas.

is it a REAL grinding noise? or is it a SQUEAK? a hi pitched squeaking noise will be belts if your brakes are still good, unless your brakes need to be greased. if its from stepping on the brakes, i have that happen sometimes when i first start my car and step on my brakes before the brakes have enough vacuum or something, not sure of the cause. for me its the same sound as when my antilock brakes is activated.

It's a real grinding noise almost like a missed gear but it's not a stick. Usually between 1st - 2nd but just on a cold start. Both mine and hers have always made the noise is it just a Nissan thing?
