Unresponsive steering

Did anyone ever encounter unresponsive steering?

I started to notice that my coupe is not nearly as responsive as it use to be.
The suspension does not feel as tight as it use to be.
Also whenever I am on the highway and I hit uneven ground, the car pulls a little towards that direction.

I took it to my mechanic today and he could not pin point the problem.
Could it possibly be bad compression rod bushings?

Tire pressure and tires are all fine.

How many miles on the shocks and springs?
Have you ever replaced the compression rods/bushings?
Could also be worn steering rack/tie rod bushings.

My Coupe has 77k miles original parts.

Just came back from the mechanic and had my passenger side compression rod replaced.
The handling is a little better when cornering now but not that much better when hitting a bump or uneven ground on the highway. Also the steering still feels loose.

He checked the driver side rod but it looks fine. Could this arm be bad even if it looks good during an inspection?

Uh, you're long past due for new shocks. 77k is a lot of miles on shocks. Replace those, and probably springs too, and your car will handle like new again.

Yes, the driver side compression rod could be bad after this many miles. Probably worth replacing if you've never had it done. Also have the steering tie rod bushings looked at.

Thanks G35fromPA.

I am taking the coupe to the mechanic again this week. I will be looking at the tie rods next since there is quite a bit of play in the steering wheel.
