Brake pads require a mallet to fit into calipers?

So I bought new rotors and pads (R1 concept rotors, POSIQUIET ceramic pads), used the new included shims as well. Car is a 2006 g35 coupe with sport brakes.

For the front brakes, i had to use a mallet on every pad to get them to go in as it seems like the pads are maybe 0.5mm too long. I can always fit one side of the ears in perfectly fine, but the ear on the other side is 0.5mm too long and is being blocked by the metal shim until I use a mallet and tap it a few times and it will fit very tightly.

I drove around with it and no signs of overheating or anything, there is slight heat coming off the brakes but it was like that before.
Should I be worried? I believe there are little to no signs of difference in driving (like no slow downs or anything)

***But one thing I am not sure of is how FREELY the wheels are supposed to spin when car is on a jack? I can hear the pads in contact with the rotors when I use my hand to spin it.
I used moderate force on the wheels to spin it and it spins maybe 2-3 revolutions. This is the same on both front wheels.

I haven't done the rears yet, having major problems getting the bolt out.

*Btw, I did drain some brake fluid and used a c-clamp on the pistons.

Did you file down the carrier? Their is probably baked on brake dust built up where the pad ended.

Also the pads should be dropping in straight, not going in one ear at a time. They should drop it flush.

And you should have very little resistance when the cars in the air, E brake and car in neutral.

+1. The pads drop in from the top of the caliper. Were you given the correct brake pads?

sounds like defective pads, I would ask for a new set - I've ran into that problem before where they make them a bit too thick.
