Pads or Rotors?

Hey guys. I'm in need of some brake assistance. I'm getting some squeal when I push the brakes on my 05 coupe. I'm not sure if I need brake pads and/or rotors. How can I tell? My front two wheels have significant brake dust on the wheels, maybe I need higher quality pads. But I just want to make sure when I take it to the shop and I just need pads, they don't try and tell me I need rotors as well. Is there a way to distinguish what I need?

pull the wheels off and check and see if your pads are down to the wear marks. Have the shop do a rotor runout to determine if you need to replace your rotors.

I've seen some posts about different brake pads out there. I'm a daily driver and push it every now and then, does it matter what kind of pads/rotors I get? Just coming off the Xmas holidays, a little short on cash until next month but I don't want to damage anymore components. Can I get autozone pads/rotors and take them to a reputable shop to put on? Or do I need OEM/$400+ components?

For your needs go with OEM. Give Phil a call over at grubbs, he'll give you a good price.
