What to do? what to do!?

I just picked up a 03 G35 Coupe AT with 25k miles. Yes I know phenomenal mileage for the year.

When I ride with a passenger I noticed a very low scraping noise coming form the front passenger side. First time I heard it was very faint and now its really noticeable when I have a passenger (added weight) the grinding/scraping noise happens when coming to a stop between 20 mph to 0 mph. Occasionally it also occurs when the suspension is being engaged at low speeds also.

Any suggestions on what it may be? My theory is the rotors are out of whack from the previous owners use. Im guessing he mostly rode solo and possibly the brake and rotors got accustomed to his solo weight.

Should go to the stealership for something that they dont even cover (brakes and rotors) or go somewhere else and have them checked out by someone else?

Im new to the g35 scene and I LOVE the car. For all I know the rotors just have to be re-surfaced. I am just not about to get robbed by the dealership.

The only way to know for sure is to put that corner up on a jackstand, remove the wheel and inspect the entire braking system with your own two eyes. You're looking for pad thickness on both pads and the condition of the rotor if there's any unusual scoring. It should appear perfectly smooth. You also want to touch it to see if a lip has formed on the edge. Also make sure there are no fluid leaks from the lines or the calipers. That's how you get a ballpark figure on the condition of the brakes on that corner. Good luck.
