Today I wanted to do a quick brake fluid change. I was using a turkey baster and pulled out the filter. But there is a white round plastic disc that is blocking me from getting all the fluid out. Can this piece be taken out without breaking anything?

That.is not a very effective way to change your brake fluid. Might as well just do it right to be honest, it isnt very hard.

That's probably the floater in the master for the sensor. Proper way to change fluid is to suck it out on every caliper. Then fill it up on the master. Take it to a shop it's probably $40.

The screen can be easily removed if you pry it out and can be a good first step in performing a brake flush service so you are not pushing dirty fluid through your system. I have found, however, the screen material to be quite fragile and cleaning with brake clean solvent can damage the screen if done at close range. Replacement screen is inexpensive though ($4?)
