Alignment Help

Sorry, wasn't sure exactly which sub-forum this should go under. Please feel free to move it to another location.

I am looking for ANY feedback from the techies on this site.

Long story short, I have had my car lowered on coilovers for 2 summers now and have raised it for the one winter in-between. This summer when I lowered the car back down, I installed 19 inch rims that are 8.5 and 9.5 inches wide, as opposed to the stock 18s x 8. When I went to get an alignment, the front camber was adjusted to about 2.3 (the best they could do) and the toe was put to spec.

The rear is where I am having huge issues. I have the SPC rear camber kit that came with the toe bolt. If i get the rear camber in spec (around 1.6), my rear left toe is around 0.8 (as opposed to 0.00-0.05 spec). Obviously, it cant be left at this toe.

I have brought it to two dealers now. They have both been unsuccessful in fixing the car and providing an acceptable alignment. They have told me that I "need a larger eccentric bolt to allow for more toe adjust-ability". I am confused as I already have the SPC toe-bolts that came with the camber kit and don't know what else I can do to have this adjusted.

I am not very familiar with the specifics of alignments and am looking for any advice and feedback that anyone can provide. I am at a stand still and am looking for what options I have.

Please feel free to ask any questions and I will try my best to answer.

Thanks!

Did you install the new spc toe bolts as well as extended the toe bolt hole with a dremel/drill/w.e in the manner dictated by the provided stencil?

No, that was not done by the shop who installed the kit. I did give them a call after posting this and they did say it may be the issue.

Thank you for pretty much confirming for me that the job was done incorrectly.

Problem solved, appreciate your feedback Sir!

Good to hear they are taking responsibility, without the elongated holes the new toe bolts are essentially not different at all from the oem ones and that's why it couldn't be adjusted enough to get you in spec. Once extended you should be good to go, glad we could figure that out for you, best of luck!

Make sure they elongate the correct hole too (insert wrong hole joke here). The toe bolt and hole elongation happens on the spring bucket side, not on the camber arm.

Just putting it out there because it's been done before.

You used the word "dealers" I hope you're not depending on the dealerships to get your alignment done correctly! They fall into the same catigory as Firestone/GoodYear/PepBoys and Sears, none of which will get your alignment back to OE specs or close. Don't know where you live but every neighborhood has a independent brake/alignment shop that knows how to adjust alignment. Ask the counter guys at your autoparts store or friends and neighbors. You didn't mention the fronts, how's that working for ya?
