Snap/Crackle/Pop

In the past I've had issues with my adjustable endlinks coming lose making noise. Had my coupe on the rack doing an oil change and everything seemed tight. For the last week I've noticed a popping/cracking noise, every day it get worse. Almost sounds like a shock is loose. Today when I pulled her into my garage it sounded like my front end was going to fall off. Tomorrow I'll get her back on the rack and figure this out. Scary how it started off barely noticeable and a week later it got way ugly!

^^That's weird, I have had the SPL front A arms for almost 3 years and they have never made a sound. I did sell my SPL endlinks though, I couldn't get them to keep quiet no matter how many times I adjusted them and lubed them.

Got SLICK on the rack this morning, first thing I noticed was my compression rod bushings were cracked. (had a SPL set in the trunk) Most of the noise was coming from the right hand SPL sway bar adjustable end link. Couple months ago discovered the bolt was missing while changing oil, may have over tightened it with impact gun....cause I was pissed! Are Whiteline endlinks any better or what do you suggest?

I hear great things about powergrid end links from Z1. Haven't tried them yet but they look like a well constructed part. I need to get my car in the air now.. Have had the SPL arms for a year or so...

I have the whiteline adjustable links and I am also having a front end knock from time to time. It may be due to my error. I had the same knock after installed them and I think I may have done something wrong. I made them a bit shorter same week and the knocking stopped.

Now that it's back I will check other components first before I blame the end links. I've had them on for 25k miles without incident after the initial shortening of them. Maybe I should have made them longer instead of shorter?

Throwing in the towel!

Found my SPL end links were once again lose, surprised that Loctite won't keep them tight. Guess I need to go "Old School" and use lock washers. PMd Alf, he's using Power Grid end links without issues. Price is a little steep at $300+ for the set from R1, makes me ask myself...."Are they worth it?" I am tired of fighting the issue of the SPLs not staying tight!

SPL compression rod bushing installed and alignment complete, sway bar endlinks tight (for now) ride is a little solid. (rough) Just changing lanes sounds like I'm going across railroad tracks.

Up grade, Power Grid endlinks ordered plus OE compression rod bushings. By the end of next week I should once again be tight and quiet....all it costs is $$.

had the same issue the problem was the link wasnt tight enough connecting to the sway bar

WhiteLine adjustables

@PAXIAO you should go longer than oem in the front gives you more of a 1:1 ratio of steering input to output because your loading the bar more, shorter than oem just felt too soft and sluggish

When I saw the thread pop up I was going to ask you the condition of your compression rod bushing but got carried away with work. Now that I have some time but you have already installed the SPL bushings. I see that you have also gone ahead and ordered OEM compression rod bushing. Why waste money and install SPL solids and then go out and buy OEM just to install them again. Were the SPL to noisy or whats up that you wanted to pay more $$$ to do it again.

If you'll read my first post on this thread I said, "I have a set in my trunk!" I bought a set of SPL bushings a couple years ago after reading all the issues members were having. I just made a bad judgement error on what I bought although the SPLs would be great if my coupe wasn't my DD. Hey I have OCD, I've had 5 exhaust systems (2 sponsored) before I found the HKS which I love....now that I fixed their design flaw.

Took SLICK to my brake/alignment shop this AM, had them install new OE compression rod bushings. Suspension makes zero noise and the SPLs may have been sold. I'm totally jazzed about the results! Tomorrow I'm going to give Precision Z a call for an alignment since they sell SPL items maybe they know how to adjust them to reach OE specs....get back to you on the results. Makes no sense to buy new front Michelins if my alignment isn't "dead nuts on!"
Gary

PrecisionZ was way busy, couldn't get an alignment....try next week!
