05 X brake upgrade opinions
My 05 X has been pretty hard on it's brakes (2 sets of pads in 4 years, warped the front rotors 4 years ago & warped the rears recently) and this time I decided to upgrade it some from the stock setup. I don't have a few grand to spring for a bbk & I just got some free Yokohamas for the stock rims so I don't feel like throwing away $600 worth of rubber. I've looked into things and come up with 2 options.
1) Get some slotted rotors and new pads for the stock setup (11.xx" rotors) I looked at possibly the EBC slotted w/ redstuff pads.
2) Put some 06 X stock calipers, brembo blank rotors (12.xx" rotors), and some akebono performance pads on.
Both options will run me around $500 in parts, any opinions on what would be a better setup...or possibly some other options anyone can suggest for around the same price that'll fit with stock 17's??

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Go with the 05-06 sedan calipers (same as the 06X), buy a set of the premium rotors from r1concepts.com and pick up a full set of Wagner ThermoQuiet brake pads. R1 uses Centric blanks and has some of the best pricing around. If you want to save a little more cash get the e-line series rotors from them.
The 2005 G sedans had one of the best braking times that Motortrend tested of any stock car that year that didn't cost an arm and a leg: 60-0mph in 110 feet. Nothing wrong with the stock brakes.............
