Stance True Coilovers rear shock mounts

Hey everyone,

So I've searched the forum for a few days trying to get a general idea on a set of Stance True Coilovers and I couldn't find a thread about a concern I had. I was hoping that members with the Stance Coilovers, True set up not OEM Style, could lend me some info. I'm curious as to how many miles are on your vehicle and how long you've had your coilovers on.

I'm worried about the stress of the rear shock mounts will have on the rears seeing as how G35's utilize a spring bucket and not a "all-in-one" setup.

If you guys(gals) could provide some insight/information that would be great.

Thanks!

I have yet to see a single issue on here or my350z of someone having issues due to running true coils, even in long use situations or hard track setups. Go with whichever you like the best, but personally I would steer clear of stance unless you're going for the "stanced out" look and don't care about handling/the poor quality dampners.

I absolutely 100% could not DIS-agree more. The Stance true style GR+ (or now, SuperSport, I suppose) will get lower than it's possible to drive, yes. However that's just an added bonus, they ride ridiculously well even at full stiff and the single best mod I've gotten for my car was upgrading from the BC BR Series to the Stance GR+ True type. The ride quality is not even close to comparable, the BCs rode like a cut-spring civic compared to the Stance. I can say this was absolute certainty at both a stupidly low ride height and now the very mild drop I'm at.

There should be no issues with durability - the only potential point of failure would be the bushings at the lower shock mount.

The bushing could fail on any type of coilover by the way, it's rubber, it goes bad on a long enough time line.

If you care about performance you should go look at the info regarding stance's dampners... Then see if you consider them good. I fell for the whole oh wow my car feels like it's on rails with cheaper coils like stances/etc. until I realized what a quality setup could really do, then I quickly jumped into the market for and picked up some kw v2's. Read around on my350z where people actually know about handling and good setups and I bet you'd lose the high praise for stances/bc's (the bread and butter of the g35 crowd) as well. But like I said before, stances are great for slamming you into the ground and driving around with a fake feeling of a good handling setup. If you don't drive your car hard and/or ever go to the track you'll probably be fine with them.... Then again if I was just going for the stance crowd I would probably just buy some of those other cheapo racelands/d2/w.e since it's cheap and I'm not caring about how my car handles at all.

I've owned 3 different coil setups now, and zhtechs in the past, and I wish I would've just done it right from the very beginning instead of having to waste more time and money going through setups, tinkering, alignments, etc. and paid a bit more (less overall) upfront to get a good quality coil setup.

If you'll re-read my post - no where in there did say they handled well (although they're certainly fine for the street if you're not driving like an *******). I wasn't going to mention KW because he made absolutely no mention of track plans.

What I said was that they ride very well. Among other coilovers in this price bracket (correct if I'm wrong, KW's V2 is not), they're quite good. As you mentioned everyone is all over the BCs, I was as well sadly, and since they're the often compared brands that's what my feedback was based on. I'm perfectly happy with the Stance coilovers as I also don't track my car. For their price they're pretty darn good.

Of the sets that you've owned, unless I missed it, I didn't see whether or not you've owned them. The ride quality is pretty outstanding compared to all of the other brands (minus KW) that you've mentioned.

Also I would assume (and that's probably my bad) that if he was looking for a track setup he would have either said so, or long ago disqualified Stance and a few dozen others.

kw v1/eibach prostreets- or w.e the name is, may fall within his price range, v2's may be had used at the price of new stances. Although the OP hasn't really given any information about what he is looking for in coils other than true vs oem - all preference btw OP.

I was more concerned about the true set up vs oem style. I've done my hmwk and read up other types of coilovers. Just to lighten up the mood, my intentions were not to track the vehicle. If I were BC, Stances maybe even tanabe pro5s wouldn't even be inconsideration.

But I do appreciate the information, opinions and insight that you guys have.

No worries with durability issues on a true style, you'll be just fine. Sorry if Xet and I got carried away lol.

stance and bc and any other dampers made in china are considered crap other than zeal IIRC to the performance gurus BUT that doesn't mean they make bad street dampers..the stance coilovers are dual valved for full shock travel at any ride height which feels great/lot better than BC in my opinion..no issues running a true style coilover in the rear..

While I have no experience with either Stance or BC, Ill throw my hat into the ring and say that if you can get your hands on a used set of HKS Hipermax's thats the ticket. While they retail for ~$2,200-$2,500, I found a very lightly used set of RS's for $1,200 and I dont regret it at all. They wont slam your car like Stances, but they will tuck the tires a bit. And really, why go lower? Im tucking a bit of tire and I already have a hard time getting over speed bumps and into my own driveway. Much less the other various obstacles around town. They ride very nice in my opinion and although they aren't a "true" coilover they handle very well. The car feels incredibly planted, controllable, and predictable on and off the track. I absolutely love them.

Personally I would avoid Stance purely to get away from the "#hellaflush/dope" stigma they carry....

Just my .02 cents.

Good luck on your decision
