2004 G35 Coupe 6MT Knuckle Ball Joint

Ok, so I have read and read through the forum and have found little to no info on this issue. I bought my duralast front lower ball joint that attatches to the steering knuckle. My nephew that works at a shop had the old one pressed out and the new one pressed in. When he brought it back to my house it didnt fit because it was missing the seat (Nissan Part #40173-AC500). I bought the seat at the stealership to make sure it was gonna fit and had the guy bring out an OEM knuckle so I could compare fitment on OEM and the knuckle off my own car(I had my knuckle in the car with me). When I placed the seat over the new OEM ball joint/knuckle and pressed it down all the way the shaft from the ball joint moves around a bit inside the seat. I pressed it down on the new duralast ball joint on my knuckle and it has the same amount of play. I am assuming the play will lessen once it is fully installed and torqued down but did anyone else notice this when they did the job? I dont want to get this thing all the way in only to find that there is still too much play between the shaft of the ball joint and the seat. Shouldnt it be on there pretty snug from the get go? Concept Z has a replacement and when i talked to the guy he said there should be no play. Thanks in advance.

Just to let you guys know. The knuckle ball joint seat from nissan will not work on a duralast ball joint. There is too much play between the shaft and the seat. The inner diameter is a few mm's off. The ball joint from concept z is defenitely the one to buy. 55.00 to your door. I am Now replacing my compression rod and for the life of me can't get the damn seat off that one. Napa compression rod...let you know what seat works for the ball joint.

I second the Concept Z part. I just installed a set last month. The front end is very responsive and crisp again, I just need to get my compression rod bushings done now.

I recommend doing the entire compression rod instead of just the bushings. I got one from NAPA for 86.00
