rear brake pads question
Hello
I have just replaced my g35 06 sdn stock brake pads with oem brake pads.
I have noticed that origial pads on the rear passanger side have a sensor and also that the shims are attached to the pad via some "butted head pins"
The new oem pads do not have shims attached so I carefully removed the old shims but I have no way of "butting" those pins.
After installing them just like this, I noticed that my pads do not fully press on the rotor. There is about 1/4 inch on the outside not touched by pads. Can this be the cause?
Qhat would you suggest?
I'll try to attach a pic with the old pads.
Thanks in advance

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're asking about. Can you post a pic of the the new pads and whatever shims you're trying to use? Also of the part you're saying isn't touching the rotors.
I bought the OEM rear shim kit not too long ago b/c whoever did the rear brakes on my car tossed the shims. The shims don't attach to the pads via those little pins. The pins are more like guides and the shims clip around the top & bottom of the pad.
Also, pads are usually tapered a bit at the ends when new, is that the 1/4 you're talking about?

I think i found it. Likely, the stealership when previously did my brakes, did not put the hardware kit but the shims only.
I replaced everything but without the hardware kit, the four pins protruding from the outer pad on the rear right were not allowing an even press between the caliper mount and the pad.
The result was an incomplete friction surface and probable not an optimal heat dissipation either.
The solution (for now) was to sand down those guide pins to be flush with the shim.
Next step - I'll talk to the service manager.
Third step - I'll do it all myself from now on
Thanks,
Have a great weekend.
