Thumping noise
Thumping noise
Hey guys I hope I'm in the right section. I have a 2007 coupe with almost 72k miles. My car has the typical road noise but I also have a weird thumping noise on my driver floor board when going around 70-85mph.
When I'm on the highway and have a slight left curve, I steer a little to the left and the noise gets Louder and I start feeling the thump on my floor board a little louder.
Is this the compression rods I keep reading about? I lifted the car and checked for play on the rack and pinion, tie rods, a-arms, even the drive shaft. And I see nothing obvious.
Please help. I do a lot of highway driving and the noise is driving me insane!

Yes, if you are not comfortable troubleshooting yourself this is a good option.
If you can do it yourself or with a friend, jack up the front end (both sides) and get a prybar. You should be able to check for play using the prybar for leverage. The FSM outlines where to pry.
Also rock the wheel side to side and up down to check for a bad bearing.
