When to tighten to spec compression rod, transverse link and tie rod?
Hi,
I just changed out my compression rod recently and I'm getting a weirdish, irritating vibration. I had the spindle completely removed from the car so when I changed out the compression rod I had to re-attach the transverse link and tie rod back to the spindle.
I tightened both ends of the compression rod (i.e. end that goes into spindle and the other side :P ) and the outer tie rod and transverse link while the car was on the jack stands
When I asked around I was told that when you tighten those pieces to spec it needs to be done with the car on the ground under its full weight.
Could that be possibly contributing to that vibration I'm getting?
Are you supposed to torque all three pieces when the car is down or just the compression rod (and if it needs to be done on the ground which end, the one that goes in spindle, other end or both)?
Thanks.
