Different pads on either side?
Hey guys,
I recently picked up a used set of akebono BBK calipers that came with pads and rotors. I have been having weird vibration problem under braking at highways speeds. I was assuming that the rotors might be warped therefore causing the vibration. They look pretty much new and seem to rotate uniformly.
So I decided to take a look at the pads, and I noticed that 3 of the 4 corners had EBC yellow stuff pads with at least 75% life left, but the last corner (driver front) had another brand/style of pads. Now I have NO idea why one of them is different but could this be causing the vibrations due to uneven contact between sides?
Also, I have this has been causing the balance weights to fall off on the front driver wheel, which leads me to believe that the vibrations have something to do with that corner.
Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Your assumption of warped rotors is most likely the issue of the vibration unless your wheels are not balanced or some issue with the tires wearing uneven. I'm sure someone here can discuss the variety of pad compounds, but uneven wear in the brake pads still leads to what the condition the rotors are in. Check and balance tires, get rotors resurfaced, slap on new brake pads, bleed brakes (if necessary) and bed in the pads and rotors. Good luck!
