I just did a bunch of front suspension work on my car including tie rod ends and I was wondering how shops adjust toe when you take it in for an alignment. It's easy enough to get it close when the new tie rod ends are installed, but I'm sure shops don't remove the tie rod end from the knuckle to adjust it by spinning the tie rod end. The FSM describes how to check toe but not adjust it. This is just pure curiosity - what other mechanism is there to adjust toe on a stock G35?

Yeah, you just unscrew the outer end and set the jam nut when its where you want it. There are lots of instruction videos on YouTube (for general cars) that can show you how to measure it properly.

I was asking how shops adjust toe. I seriously doubt if they detach the tie rod end to spin it for adjustment. I was wondering if they loosen the adjuster nut and then maybe spin the inner tie rod to adjust it (with a wrench).
