VDC, SLP and BRAKE...NOT ABS

2003 G35 Sedan
I have not seen a post with these symptoms...I have VDC, SLP and the BRAKE light...without the ABS light illuminated. I cant find this symptom in the FSM either. Its somewhat intermittent My daughter drives the car and says sometimes at high speeds the steering wheel goes to the left (car pulling left) and smells funny. I have pulled front wheels and find nothing out of the ordinary. When I drive it, it doesn't pull. I put just a smidgen of brake fluid in the reservoir but the lights had already gone out when I did this. So, right now it is all normal.

Any ideas?

Most likely a camshaft position sensor. You won't know which one unless you pull the code, or you can just replace both.

Try searching, man. When Cam-pos sensors and crank sensors go out they light up the dash like a Christmas tree. If you wanna try using logic all the sudden rather than listen to my advice then why don't you just go get the code checked?

JWMS it seems you've been a member for several years and I am surprised you question Scraggle's advice. It points me to believe you haven't spent much time looking around the forum and reading about common issues with the G. He's spot on with his advice, the VQ motor is notorious for the cam sensors to glitch which causes a multitude of issues that have nothing to do with the cam. Counter intuitive I know but very common nonetheless. When they go bad a lot of times they won't even trigger a SES light but still make the car run like crap. If you replace them, there are 2, use OEM only. Our motors don't play nice with aftermarket versions a lot of the time.

Not sure how you couldn't have seen any info on this issue unless you spent absolutely no time searching the forum using either the search tool here or Google. I spent .85 seconds and found 20 pages of topics that are related in some way to the problem.

Please be more diligent before questioning one of our more knowledgeable members. Scraggle, thanks as always for your insight.
