Front suspension rebuild suggestions
Hi all,
I've amassed a collection of suspension parts to install to give my 125k mile Maine daily driven coupe that factory fresh steering feel and ride as well as give me a solid platform to build on in the future when the G is relieved from its daily slog to work and back.
My goal is to do this and not touch the front suspension ever again aside from maybe brakes, bearings, and end links if needed.
Parts that will be in my front susp. after the latest round of work:
Whiteline poly LCA, comp rod, UCA bushings
Energy poly steering rack bushings, sway bar bushings
KYB struts
350z front springs (if I can find 'em cheap)
MOOG strut mounts
MOOG tie rods, inner and outer
Mevotech Premium lower balljoints
After all of this the only not-new parts in my front suspension will be:
Original 125k mile UCA ball joint
Compression rod ball joints (PO seems to have replaced comp rods, but bushings are cracked)
Both of these components appear "good" but they've clearly been on the car for many years.
How often do these non replaceable ball joints in the UCA and comp rod fail? Would it benefit me to install some low mile used upper control arms along with the rest of this stuff to remove that last 14 year old component "while I'm in there" so my front suspension has a better chance of staying tight for the next 100k miles or so?
