Cheaper way to upgrade to G37 Akebono Big Brakes
Hello everyone. This is my first post. I live and work in Okinawa, Japan. Haven't lived in the States since 1983. I was always a BMW guy, but my Z3 **** the bed, so I decided to get a Skyline GT350 coupe. It's super hard to find a 6MT over here, so I went with an automatic. Anyway, I was looking for a cheap way to upgrade the brakes. I found the Concept Z performance site and you can get the Akebono G37 complete setup for about $1700.00, (4 14 inch rotors, front and rear Akebono calipers, lines, pads, and adapter for the front). I already installed 19 inch rims so everything should clear. Then I found a cheaper way. You can get everything but the adaptors at Parts Train for a little under $900.00. Then buy the adapters at Concept Z for $88.00. Here is what I bought:

The front calipers are not powder coated, but I found a place here in Okinawa that will powder coat the fronts for 58 bucks. Then I bought some Nismo vinyl high heat decals and I am good to go. So you can do everything for under a grand.

Wish I saw this before buying reman calipers. Haven't even installed them yet. Can't beat those prices. Have you ever used that site? Never heard of it before. And I thought rockauto had the cheapest parts. Thanks for sharing
Jeez this site has remanufactured brembo calipers for $80...
Has anyone ever ordered through them, these prices seem too good to be true?

We will know soon. I couldn't believe it either. I had to research those brakes too make damn sure that's what I was lookin' at. Also, they are the only place I could find the rears. I would bet that this is where Z1 and Concept Z are getting them and making those kits. Dude, you are right. I didn't even see the Brembos.

I saw the stripped akebonos on rockauto for a tad bit more so it is possible. One thing I noticed was the search gave me the wrong part number for the 06 control arm. I was shocked at the price but turns out it's for 03-04 models. So check part numbers. Other than that, I think you're onto something good
Yea... Like I said, we will know soon. I just ordered all the stuff yesterday. I will let everyone know. I will post some pics after I install everything.

O'reilly has them for about $115 per caliper. The question is how often do they stock them even at the warehouses. I'm sure there is a limited supply of reman akebono. For some reason the rears are more than the fronts. Wonder what they'd say if I returned my 2 piece calipers for the core charge.
Got the Adapters from CZPerformance. Shout out to them for shipping to APO addresses. It take a while for **** to get here since some companies such as, Parts Train and Raceland wont' ship to APOs. I use ShipItAPO. Two Marines got sick of companies not shipping to APOs, so when they got out of the Marines they started a business to forward **** we order to us. It kind of sucks because essentially you are paying for postage twice. Don't get me wrong, this is great idea and I use them all the time. If they didn't exist I couldn't get these parts. I think they should pass a law that companies in the United States have to ship to APO addresses. Most places do now, but for a long time they didn't exist. Some places don't even have APO as a choice. Anyway, it's still cool living overseas. Sorry for the rant.
Update: The calipers, lines, rotors and pads just left Oregon (Where ShipItAPO is), so everything else will arrive next week. It all goes to Chicago if it is to an APO address. I know it's kinda stupid. The US Postal Service used to have an APO place, in SF,California for the west coast and one in New York City for the Europe dudes. But they closed them and everything goes to Chicago. Oh well, it's only another week.

Yup... I received ALL of the parts. I took the calipers to Okinawa Powder Coat. I picked this sick color called Anti-Skid, so he had to order the powder. I called him Friday and he said he should get the powder Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully they get done this week and I can install everything next weekend...
