BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
*** Attn: Brembo Owners ***

I'm sure you've seen my posting regarding my situation with Peninsula Infiniti located here in Redwood City, CA. My 2004.5 ip cpe only has 24,000miles on it. When I brought the car in I told them I didn't want to drive the car home until after they inspected it. Last monday, as I was driving home, radio off windows down...i hear metal scraping...It sounded like a piece of metal was dragging on the floor....I didn't schedule an appoitment and they were all out of loaners...they were kind enough to put me in an rental from Enterprise car for the day...that's fine.

When I got the call, my rep Bob Anderson, told me bad news....your rotors are at 5.2 and estimated cost of $1,300.00 - $1,500.00 just for the "REARS".

I have never had to pay more than several hundered on any of my old acuras or hondas. They told me that it's not covered because it's "wear and tear". I'm like ok fine...The call back and they were able to "SAVE" the rotors but recommends changing them immeidately. I told them to just change the pads for now fix my broken cup holder (warranty) and hazard button (non-warranty) shop installing my ipod adapter didn't plug it back in so that was electrical $70.00.

This post is basically for all BREMBO OWNERS who have had this encounter with any other INIFNITI DEALERS. I am so UPSET that I don't plan on ever bringing my car back to any INFINITI dealer unless it's a warranty re-call!

If you've been in my situation were you able to have INFINITI cover the rotors or did you just pay for it and let it be?

I've already sent INFINITI customer service a complaint.

BoBs - SF

You put 24,000 miles on your rotors. Only the non-brembo rotors are covered under warranty. I don't understand the problem aside from the astronomical price they are charging you to replace them. If you only put on 10,000 miles before they went bust, then I'd be concerned.

You coulda bought aftermarket rotors like from Stoptech or Stillen and it would have come out cheaper and better. Stoptech 1 piece rears are like $250 each. Brakepros slotted rears are like $450 for a pair. And if you do the work yourself, it's even that much cheaper. Rotors are not hard to replace.

I was warned by my service advisor that if my rotors ever go bad... I would be better off going aftermarket... I least they told me before hand...

This is primarliy why they scrapped the Brembo's on the G35's. People don't understand the reprocussions by owning a track brake system...

I did find aftermarket slotted and drilled rotors online for under $200.00 each..

The prices they " " me were RIDICULOUS...!!!
I'll keep everyone posted..they don't warn you after 24K you'll have to spend a G at the dealership...

Thanks for your input

Bobs, I thought you learned you lesson from my experience with Peninsula.

Get Stoptechs or Wilwoods.

Bobby...sorry to hear about your problem...after all the promoting you did for those guys at the meets, it is a shame they treat you this way. I agree with your decision to never take your car back there again. I am sure it will all work out for you in the end. Good luck.

I don't understand what the problem really is with the dealer? Yea the parts cost alot, I think that was established . . . Should have done your research for aftermarket parts . . .I'm not trying to be an ***, but you've got to place blame where blame is due

Replace the rotors/pads yourself. It should take only 1.5-2hrs. Paying that much for such simple work is insane. I replaced the front rotors/pads and rear pads on a BMW E36 328i this Sunday and it was cake. Also bled the whole system and put new fluid. Took about 1.5 hrs.

I too would just go aftermarket. No real benefit having the stock Brembo rotors.
24k miles sounds like fair amount of use if you asked me.
