Re: Pics of Wilwood 6 piston Brake Kit!

Numbers please. Stock Vs. Wilwood kit stopping distances would be a great indicator. Fade resistance, brake dust, noise?

Re: Pics of Wilwood 6 piston Brake Kit!

Hey Guys,

Great questions about the kit. A lot of your answers are at www.g35brakes.com

If there is interest, I am happy to do a group buy on these brakes. I would be willing to reduce the price on the kit by 1% for each kit purchased in the group. For example, if 3 people want in on the kit, then the price would be reduced by 3% to $2,134. Up to a maximum of 10% discount for 10 kits sold. Understand that the price of $2,200 is already discounted from $2,450. Also understand that this kit is designed to compete with the brembo, AP and StopTech 14" kits (not the smaller kits) which cost must more (~$2,500 - $2,700) and that this kit will fit under the stock 17" rims where as the other kits will not.

I do not have brake numbers yet as Edward is the first person to install these brakes on a G35. I just got my G last Thursday and will be installing a set on my car in the next few weeks. I do have numbers on my similar kit (exactly the same as the G kit except it has a SMALLER rotor size or only 12.5") for the 300zx. A stock Z32 300zx will stop from 60mph to 0 in ~126 feet, only a couple of times before fading. My kit will stop from 60mph to 0 in ~105 feet, repeatedly!!! I have hammered this kit on the race track with my 300zx TT for a few years now. Never any brake fade problem and I don't have anyone outbraking me (Vettes, Vipers, Porsche's, BMWs etc).

In regards to brake dust, I provide the kit with Q Compound brake pads from Wilwood. They are a great agressive street/light track use pad that is low dust and low squeal. When compared to the stock pads they are very low dust!!! As Edward indicated he has no brake squeal, so that should not be a problem. The pads are ~ .8" thick and are very durable, and they only cost ~$85 per axel.

Please email me if you are interested and I'll post details about a group buy if there is enough interest in the classifieds.

Russell

No offense, but $4000+ for brakes!? And these brakes just compete with the Brembos? Why not spend the couple grand up front and get the 6MT with Brembos standard?

Also, you'd think for that much cash, they could come up with a better font for "WILWOOD" - it looks like it came from Middle Earth or something.

Re: Pics of Wilwood 6 piston Brake Kit!

Let me clarify. These do NOT compete with the 'stock' 12.68" brembo brakes. Those are 'ok' brakes, but won't take the abuse my kit can. My kit competes with the aftermarket Brembo and AP ~14" kits. The 14" kit costs ~$2,700 and requires at least 18" rims. My kit costs $2,200 and fits under the stock 17" rims.

BTW, I like Lord of the Rings and 'middle earth'! ;-) j/k. I agree the font is a 'love it or hate it', but they freakn kick *** from a performance perspective.

Masetodd, I'm guessing this is more appealing to the sedan crowd as well as the coupe crowd who didn't want to wait till next christmas to get a coupe! Sometimes you take what you're given! Fortunately, I got the brembos, just no nav like I wanted.

The wilwood calipers are only available in black. I've spoken with Wilwood many times about this, there position is all about performance and black offers the best heat dissipation. I have also made a kit with red rotor hats, looked great until they got really hot and then turned pink! ....the black finish on the rotor hats can take much more heat than the other colors available

Where did you get those red brembo covers? I just want to change the gold color to red or something.

Thanks - Joey Avino
