Re: Pics of Wilwood 6 piston Brake Kit!

Thats probably that new break system the were testing at some American LeMans series races a couple years ago. Its not a standard break setup. Its a standard "looking" carbon fibre or ceramic rotor, but the caliper doesn't just wrap over a small portion of the rotor. It circles the entire 360 degrees of the rotor. The assembled break system looks more like some sort of center-force clutch or something. Pretty neat. I watched some show where they discussed these new breaks and showed how they worked and what not.

Oh yeah, and the breakpads, were shaped like big hollow circles. Like donuts, lol.

Re: Pics of Wilwood 6 piston Brake Kit!

This is probably an old post, but I thought I would comment on the Wilwoods. I bought a set for my 03 Cobra. They are great brakes for the money, but there are a few downsides as well. Most importantly, if you plan on driving the vehicle daily, these brakes are probably not for you. The pistons do not have dust seals around them. This will allow more dust to get into the internal seals, causing them to wear out faster and need rebuilding quicker. The tolerances are very tight, but for a street driven vehicle, it is always a good idea to have dust boots. The other downside is the material. Billet aluminum used to be the thing to do, unfortunately in this particular case, it makes for a caliper that is not as rigid as other calipers on the market. Forging is a better choice, either that or more material. These are, however the lightest brakes on the market. I am by no means flaming Wilwood. They are great brakes, but for street use, I would consider another manufacturer.
