Why do Z springs drop a G an additional 1/2"

Are the Z springs 1/2" shorter to begin w/ that accounts for the additional 1/2" drop on the G?

I will be installing 03' Z springs on my G and I am wondering if I can count on getting at least a 1/2" drop in the back.

One member that has done this spring swap got 3/4" in the front and 1/4" in the back.

The 1/4" he reported to me is making me wonder about the reason for the 1/2" addition drop rule.

Thanks.
Piero

part of it has to be the spring rate that gives you a lower static height (if they have different rates). i'm not sure if the height of the springs themselves are different.

The 03' OEM Z springs have the exact same spring rates as the 03' and 04' G's. This is why I'm using OEM Z springs and not the Z H-techs. Oem G shocks will be fine with the change.

Are you guys needing camber kits with the Z springs/shocks? All are the Z springs the same? 350Z Track, Touring, Enthusiast, etc?

Z spring rates 314F/342R same as G35 OE.

Probably the same for all 03's and 04's. Springs changed in 04.5' on the Z.

I don't think any camber correction kit will be required. Have not installed mine yet.

Could someone kindly provide some clarification on this?

I am looking at installing some Touring springs from an 03 350 and I want to make sure these are on par with what others are using. Many thanks.

All Z models of the same time period have the same spring rate regardless of enthusiast, touring, track, etc.

I'm guessing because they have slightly different suspensions (the same parts fit, but they are not the same), the Z uses a shorter spring and thus, the G35C drops 1/2 and inch when you put Z springs on.

Z Springs

I too would like to know. If this drops the car at most 3/4" then there should be no need to camber correction. I'm just looking for a slight drop which these should be perfect. Someone take pics, verify that no camber kit is needed, and let us know how the ride is.

Could this mild drop be brought into alignmnet spec?

I did check the sticky before my first question and it had only a brief reply stating the oem spring rates for sport suspension. I am asking about rates for the non-sport susp. Shouldn't it have some difference in rates?

Nevermind above question. I found the answer in post #30 by dyenboy
https://g35driver.com/forums/showthread/php?t=92682

The 03-06 Sedan non-sport rates are reported as 283/308
