snow chains
snow chains
What snow chains would you recommend for a g35 sedan with 18" sport tires? I live in california and would only need chains occasionally for trips to tahoe or down the 5 when it is snowing. I don't encounter snow often enough for winter tires.
im in a similar situation and renting a car/suv is wayy too expensive imo. 80-100 bux a day average.. depending on the season. i have a coupe with 17's on it. the goodyear eagle RS-A's ithink they are called. even though they are all seasons, ive been suggested not to take the G upto tahoe this winter. but.. even if i get snow chains, still not recommended huh?
would say.. a v6 camry with snow chains be a better bet?
sorry dont mean to thread jack. :[

I haven't used chains myself before however I do live in snow country and have seen them used on a few vehicles like rear drive big trucks etc. Recent stats here have 57% of people using snows and 43% just using their all seasons.
I would be very cautious about using chains on nice wheels and low profile tires like the G. I believe there would be a strong likelyhood of serious wheel scratches and your driving speed would also likely be limited compared to regular highway levels. Chains are more suitable to improve traction on ice rather than on snow anyhow.
I would recommend the rental SUV 4x4 option or look around for a set of used wheels and then buy some proper snow tires.
Good luck.
