Raising ride height with rims?

Hey guys, I just moved my G35 coupe to new orleans for school. One thing i noticed so far driving around here is the large amount of potholes. I have had a lot of terrible noises come from the bottom of my chassis when i bottom out after hitting a pot hole. I currently have the OEM rims and tires for the 6-speed with brembos and I was wondering if replacing them with 20's would do anything to help out my ride height... Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you still have your stock suspension?

Yes, 20s will raise the car though it won't be the most aesthetically pleasing way to go about it.

raise the car? the only way you would accomplish that is by increasing the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combination. something you wouldnt want to accomplish anyway.

how about avoiding the potholes instead driving over them? or drive VERY slow over potholes...i don't think stock suspension would bottom out under normal conditions (anything less that say 2inches deep?)

Obviously you haven't seen the potholes here in new orleans. Some can be over 5 inches deep and some are impossible to avoid because of cars parking on both sides of the street. I have tried going over them slowly and still scrape... It seems like everyday i hit some damn pothole... i am scared to look underneath my car lol...
