Question <-Can I switch my stock OEM 06 Coupe brakes with OEM Brembos?->

Hey

I was wondering if I can switch out my stock brakes to OEM Brembo brakes?? What modifactions do I have to do? Is it worth the trouble and money?? How much dose a used set of Brembos usally cost (front+rear)?

I did search and could not find any info about it.

Thanks

Mahdi

yes

unknown

no

dont think you can find a used set

the stock brembos provide sustained heat dissapation better then stock. however unless your doing track stuff its not worth the trouble & $$. plus they wear quite a bit faster then stock and will cost more to replace.

the reason you havent found much on stock brembos (upgrade) is they are marginally better then stock and for the money ( of the upgrade ) your much better getting an after market kit.

unless im mistaken kits run around 2k (discs, shoes, caliper)

ppp

I'm about to do the swap on my 05 hopefully this coming up weekend. I plan to do a write up on everything you need and have pictures. I'm just waiting on my calipers to come back from powder coat.

I got just the calipers and pads for about 1300. I decided to buy own pads, new EBC rotors, and the other stuff.

I have done this about 6 months ago and did just a small write-up on it
the only problem you will find is if you are using the Brembo rotors, then you have to cut back some of the dust shield on the rear, the fronts are a one for one swap

if you are just changing out the calipers and pads then there should be an issue with the dust shield except maybe cutting enough room for the Calipers to fit on the rear since the OEM calipers were smaller than the Brembo's

Everyone is going to jump on me for suggesting this, but I don't care...

have you considered painting your calipers?

I love the Gold color too much, plus it goes with the blue
even though I did see a posting the other day of some blue painted Brmebos that looked awsome

Did you have to get new brackets for it??? or did it just bolt up?? Can we get like a OEM Brembo Dustshield and switch with the old ones?? would that work?? Thanks a lot!!

I just read your post, I am kinda confused on the rear, So I am going to need to get some extra bolts for it??

AGAIN THANKS A LOT!

We just finished doing the swap on my car.

Here is what we learned.

1. The brembo calipers bolt up to the stock 05 brackets just fine.

2. The rear dust shields had to be cut/removed to clear the brembo calipers and the new rotors.

3. You will need either aftermarket stainless brake lines or the rubber/hard lines from the brembo car. I used Goodridge lines and worked just fine.

4. Tony-G mentioned that maybe the stock rear caliper mounting bolts will not screw in properly into the brembo rear calipers. We were trying to get done that I did not verify if that was true or not. I went ahead and bought new brembo caliper mounting bolts/washers for both the front and rear just in case. I didn't want to be stuck if something didnt fit right.

5. THey look hot sex compared to my stockers lol

Here are some teaser pics till I can do a full shoot with my wheels.
