Anyone have service done on their brakes?

My car's at the dealership due to my brake light coming on. Apparently my pads are too low and the rotors are wearing down in the front (the guy who owned it before me must have been hard on the brakes). I got a quote of $1300+ to do new rotors and new pads for just the fronts. Is it normally this high? My rears can still be turned but need new pads.

for a dealer, no that's not high. Wait till they want to rebuild the calipers and flush the whole system ("we found that you needed a little more work"). Get a second opinion. Brake jobs are usually very easy for disc type brakes. I haven't done the G (yet), but I bet it's not different. I got to where I could change the rotors and pads on by wife's sebring in about 20 minutes. (ate them like candy!)

i already told him to go ahead and change them. i guess the brakes are electronically connected and i'd hate to try and attempt it myself or have someone else do them who hasn't done it before and seriously mess anything up. i'll just have to bite the bullet on this one and continue to be easy on the brakes (unlike the previous owner of the car)
