Turanza LS-V & Hawk Performance HPS
Turanza LS-V & Hawk Performance HPS
Hi Everyone.
G35 Sedan 2004, leather, 35K miles. Everything standard, no add-ons, modifications, etc. Original tires: 215/55-17
Planning to change all tires and brake pads.
Found @ Tirerack:
225/55-17 Bridgestone Turanza LS-V - $144
(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....1=yes&place=23)
Hawk Performance HPS - $65 (front) + $61 (rear)
Trying to make sure that the tires and pads will work for my car. Any additional/alternative suggestions are certainly welcome.
Thanks a lot for your help!

The EL42's suck. I replaced mine with 225/55R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, a max-performance summer tire, though I'm in socal. Awesome tire. Probably not good for your area. I wore those out and switched to two sets of tires, one for daily driving and R-comp tires for autocross, so I went a little milder on the daily tires to something with a little tread life. Kumho ECSTA ASX in 235/50R17. The size has the same diameter as stock, so your speedometer isn't off. They're a high-performance all-season tire. I like them just fine. Way more grip than you need on city streets. Definately better than the Turanza EL42, and quite a bit cheaper, too. If not that tire, I'd at least recommend you look at what TireRack offers in 235/50R17. The LS-V is probably a decent tire, but they're pricey.
I haven't used anything but Infiniti pads yet. I've had my front pads replaced twice and rotors once under the lovely '03 warranty. I'm passed that warranty though, so next time I'm leaning toward the Hawk HPS pads myself.

True the EL42's suck *****, but the Turanza LS-V's are a different story. I work for firestone and havent used the LS-V's personally because they dont make them in my size or else i would. But i've never had a customer complain about the Turanza LS series tires.

Thank You very much for your respond!
I had Bridgestone Potenza RE950 on my 1999 Maxima, and they were good. That’s probably why I am trying to stick to the brand and technology (UNI-T AQII). I remember driving into a wall of heavy rain on H. Franklin Bridge (I-275, Tampa, FL.) without even releasing gas pedal … I felt no difference. Most of the cars were going about 30, but there was no traffic. I came out on the other side of the 'wall' about six minutes later, and the car was dry (wax, rain-x, etc.) …
Anyway, I am going with my choices, and will keep you posted.
Thanks again for Your help! Nice Forum.

i just got the hawk hps pads for all four corners on my '03, and i am loving it so far. the stopping power is great and there is absolutely no brake dust. i got them from jeff at importrp.com for almost $10 dollars less shipped, and the service and response was great.
250 miles later:
I am very happy with my selection. Pro Tire (Fayetteville) did a good job installing everything. Dust brake virtually disappeared from my wells, and handling improved. My only reservation is fuel economy… I’ve never done any actual measurements/tests, but it just feels like I am using more gas since the installation.

Study tire rack wet stopping distance tests........you will see 30+ feet differences from just 50 mph on the same car........how quickly do you want to stop in rain to avoid rear ending someone?
To me that's the major criteria in selecting a tire!
