Newb car purchase question...

I'm new to this site and currently researching the
G35 Coupe heavily to make a purchase. Here is
what I'm looking for:

2006 G35 Coupe
IP on Stone interior
5AT
Aero pkg.
Sport pkg.

I've gotten two quotes so far from the nearest dealers.

Quote 1 - $35,700 plus TTL for exactly what I asked for. (have to order)

Quote 2 - $36,258 plus TTL for the same plus moonroof,
trunk mat, wheel locks. (in stock)

Do these prices sound like they're in line or somewhat high ?
Quote 1 said to come in and work something out.
Quote 2 said they could not really do any better since the
coupes are in high demand. I've heard that line before.

Any other input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Come on now, do you really need to ask? quote 1 is 300 below MSRP, quote 2 is about 860 below MSRP, yes it is in-line if it were back in 2003.

Give me a break. I can do the math. I'm new to Infiniti's and just wasn't sure if the "in demand" comment was accurate and if I should just go with one of them. I'm trying to get them to work off of invoice, but neither wants to do that. I guess I'll keep looking for other dealers that may want to work with me and sell a vehicle.

You can do MUCH better my friend. It may require a little travel, but the dealers are out there.

I found mine via the Internet. I started corresponding with various dealerships about price and availability, then pitted one's price against the other. I got what I wanted and actually did a little better than I expected.

Oh - location matters a bit. Where are you? Some areas are saturated with Gs, others have barely any.

I'm in New Orleans which has one Infiniti dealer. The next
closest is in Baton Rouge (approx. 75 minute drive one way).
So far, I have contacted those two and also one in Mobile, AL.
(approx. 2 hour drive one way) which is where I bought my BMW.
I am awaiting their reply as I type this. What would you guys think
the going "over invoice" or "off of sticker" amounts should be ?

thats actually the exact same car i'm looking for here in brooklyn, based on your quotes you're not getting a good deal, invoice price on the car is $33,899, so you should be paying TOPS around $1000 over htat price, which would put you at $34,899. I priced it out with 5AT, sports, aero and sunroof. if you don't wanna buy this years model, infiniti's running a 1 year lease special on the coupes so you could get the 08's next year right after that lease is up for around 400-500 per month for a year with 0 down.

Baton Rouge Infiniti just came back with a sell price of
$35,058 which they say is $1000 over their invoice. This
one has the Aero & Sport packages as well as moonroof,
trunk mat, and wheel locks. It's also in stock. May be
taking a road trip this weekend. Still waiting on another
dealer to get back to me.

I went into a Washington DC area dealership and waited for them to approach me. Told them to make the deal they would have to give me dealer invoice, not a cent more. They had over 35 coupes on their lot and said yes they would.

Find an acceptable car on the lot, test drive it to assure yourself this is the one, and be prepared to strike the deal but let them approach you. If you are anxious you will not get your ideal deal. If they invest time and effort in you, they will not want you to leave empty handed with no payoff for their efforts. Also helps to go at end of month. A low profit deal (dealer invoice) still goes towards their throughput volume #s which is one aspect of their internal incentives.

Also, with the new coupe around the corner, and a diminishing demand due to gas pricing, and a slew of coupes coming off of lease for sale used, is it so unreasonable to get this car for invoice? Remember, they need your sale more than you need their car. good luck!

First, my post wasn’t intended to be brassy or condescending, Second, If you had read some of the threads here, you would’ve know most of ppl here were getting around 500 over invoice since beginning of the year, of course that pricing is highly depends on locations, its difficult for someone who is 2000 miles away to know what your local market condition is like for G35, if you want to get better responds? you might want to make a post over at regional forum section like in South or South East forum, someone there should give you bit more precise pricing info in your area and perhaps point you to the right direction.

You are not getting a good deal unless the premium package is in there also. When i was shopping around, i got this deal for $36,000 +TL.

6MT
Premium
Navi
Aero
Sirius
Moonroof
Trunk mat

Just say, "This could be the esiest sale of your life, give me the car at invoice price and im buying it right now." Most salesmen wont mess around, they will just go and ask their manager if its ok. I got a different model later at $40 above invoice using that.

Another tip, try to buy the car at the end of the month... many dealerships have numbers to meet/break so they will try to push as many units as possible and not worry about the profit per car because they get a bonus on the bulk number of cars they sell.
