Extended Warrenty
Extended Warrenty
New to the thread so this question might have already been answered, but I am getting ready to take delivery of a new 2006 G35 6MT, is the extended warranty worth the extra money and is it really needed. This is my first Infiniti so I am not quite sure how reliable the brand is. I traded in my 1998 Cadillac Eldorado for the G35 and thank God I had the warranty on it, because it was in the shop several times.
Thanks

In that case, I would say it's up to you. I bought it just because, I didn't want to mess with anything. I think it's a bit high, but this is a more complicated and expensive car than a Chevy.

Of course, with a 3 or 4 years lease, or you plan to unload the car before 50Kmiles, etc. it is not a good buy.
You can buy one from any Nissan or Infiniti dealer as far as I know. They are often competitive on the price.
It is worth it IMO if you plan to keep the car a long time. Probably more worth it if you have Navi.
The powertrain warranty is quite good, but any of the electronics going bad will cost some big money.
We were quoted $800 on a power seat for an Acura. It failed at 48K. They don't repair the power assembly, they replace it. Fortunately we had an extended warranty as we were one month past the expire date of the original.
If you are still under warranty, then get a factory extended warranty if you plan to get one at all. The 3rd party warranties can be a headache. There is nothing like the convenience of using the dealer for claims and not having to reach in your wallet and wait for reimbursements, etc. Plus you know you will get the right parts. (For routine service, I avoid dealerships...)
I can only speak from my experiences, YMMV.
