Talking thinking of buying a G35 coupe. (got some questions.)

hey guys, basically right now im driving a 99' eclipse GSX (turbo, awd)
with 35,000 original miles, light mods.

its a great car, but im getting a very nice bonus from my job come X-mas time , so im doing my reasearch ahead of time. i should be getting around 10k bonus and i can sell my car for 12-15 being that its so rare to find a clean gsx with low milage. but anyway...

as a daily driver how is the G coupe? what kinda Gas milage do u ugys see city/highway. and are stock tires doable in winter? or is it almost needed to get winter ones? are thier any problems with the different years? im prolly gettting a 03-04. and is thier any performance differences between the years?

im considering a Lancer EVO, or Wrx STI as well. but i tihnk the g35 wins outta these 3.

thanks alot in advance, i know i asked alot crap.

It's a great reliable daily driver that looks excellent on the road.

Some people complain about the gas mileage but I don't find it horrible. I average 20-23MPG with a mixture of city/hwy driving.

Most of the issues that you come across are all covered under warranty. You can find a list of the recent TSB's here:
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Infiniti...Coupe/Year.htm
You will find that these are the things people complain about mostly.

As with all used cars do your homework on any of the ones that interest you. Carfax is a must. Also call your local dealer (or a few of them) and give them the VIN and ask for a service record. Most of the dealerships I contacted where more than helpful as they provided me with a history of the complaints/problem/services on the vehicle.

You will also want to search this site thoroughly. The topics of reliability on the 03-04’s have been discussed OFTEN.

Good luck with your purchase!

I don't even own a G35 yet but I'l answer a couple of your questions I answered by using the search function.

Everyday driver:
G35 > STI > EVO

Gas Mileage
G35 > EVO > STI But it's goddamn friggin close

But STI and EVO are performance first cars. G35 is luxury. These two cars will totally destroy the G in a race.

So just go to the dealers and test drive them for yourself, you can't go wrong with that.

And if you seriously think that driving a RWD car on a snowy road with summer tires on is a good idea, you deserve to die in the resulting crash.
