Arrow G35 Insurance and Maintenance Question

Hello everyone,

My current situation is I will be graduating college this summer and sometime early next year I will be looking for a performance car. The G35 6MT is one of my top choices. It must be a manual, and it must be a coupe

What I am mainly asking is about the insurance costs and maintenance costs.

Is insurance costs on these cars very high? Let me explain my stats: I am 21 (I will be 22 when I'm looking), I will be needing Full Coverage with about $1,000 deductible.

I wanted to get a quote, but they hit your credit report for that and I didn't want to do that until I was ready to look.

Also, I wanted to ask about the maintenance on these cars? Is it expensive to maintain? Such as does an oil change cost nearly $50 due to an expensive filter? Is it easy to work on?

How about mod friendliness? I wouldn't be doing more than wheels, tint, lowering, and probably a CAI. Maybe a cat-back exhaust.

Sorry if this is a repost, but I am mainly a lurker of the pics section

John

Get yourself quotes from esurance.com / 21st.com or insweb.com, no credit check needed.

It depends where you take your car for maintenance, if its the dealership? of coruse its going to be expensive, but if you do it yourself or take to a garage that you trust? I dont see it would be more expensive than any other cars cus it dont needs any speical oil/filter or you need do it more frequently then most of other cars.

buying a new car right out of college is one of the worst things you can do.
considering you are young, insurance will be a lot and depending on yoru credit, your payments will be high.
my suggestion would be to look for a used G35 if you want one.
the g35 is expensive to maintain if you take it to the dealer for oil changes. oil changes are about $50. sheduled maintenance can range from $150-$350.
My other suggestion is to look into getting 350Z. you probably don't need the backseat of the G35. I don't and the Z was my second choice.
The Z is mod friendlier because it is cheaper to mod and there are more products out there for the Z. There are similar products for the G but it is less versatile in my opinion and parts for the G seem to be a lot more expensive.

Dealer oil changes are 40 dollars where i am.

Otherwise if you decide to do your own with non synthetic, it's < 20 dollars.

Thank you for your responses,

I plan to do ALL work on the car myself. The G35 I was looking for would be between an 03 - 05. My spending limit is probably $20k, by the time I got the car it'd be about early 2008.

Thanks for the sites, and I plan to look at those.

The 350Z sounds like a great idea, but wouldn't the insurance be killer because of the name?
