What fees must you pay up front when buying?

So I'm hoping to buy the 07 G35 before the fourth of July. I was wondering what fees must I pay up front when buying a car(will be my first car so I'm still a noob to this). I would like to get the car with as little as possible.

There's no upfront fees...Just the usual destination and whatever sales price you bargain with the dealership...Make sure you ask them what's the final price "Out the Door"...That means your total sales price, tax and registration...You should make sure you know what the invoice price is and what options and shop around...Don't go into a dealership until you are fully ready to buy.

Know your credit score because lets say they give you a great deal on the car but they will try to get you on the back end with higher interest rate if you don't know your credit score...I never stepped into a dealership until I was ready to buy. I went online and got all the information I needed. I bargained thru email and stuff...They kept wanting me to come in for a test drive. Finally, I got a quote I was looking for after 4 months of research and preparing my credit score. Make sure you look at what fees they charge you during the paperwork...And that the price they told you is correct. Don't sign anything until you look at the fees. Some places will charge doc prep fee...Which to me is a bogus fee...Those are some of my tips...Enjoy and have fun...Congrats and thinking about the G35...

Tax and Tags!!! Maybe the 1st payment as well. Like Hai said your credit will determine if you need a down payment. The bank will only finance so much!!!

The price and negotiating I understand. I know I must shoot for the closest price at invoice. I have a decent credit score(720, last time I checked which was 3 months ago), although I'm not sure what Interest I can get(I guess I will find out when I shop for a loan). But when I was messing around with edmunds, there are some additional fees you must pay like Sales Tax, Title, Registration, 'other costs'. I thought you had to pay for these fees upfront, and not have them built in the purchase price.

Check in your area. IIRC some of the people in other parts of the country from us had different rules on the taxes and other things. It's always best to check your area or at least post up your location so someone close to you can answer.

I always thought that the documentation fee was a b.s fee as well...but someone told me that you have to pay it. And I remember reading a post in which someone stated that they didn't pay it. I think it was you. I am looking into getting a 06-07 G35 coupe this August or September, and reading these post has been helpful. Thanks to the original poster and everyone for their advice.

1st payment and license plate fees only.

Everything else can be rolled into the payments. I know for a fact because thats what I did.
