Lease turn in inspection experiences?
Lease turn in inspection experiences?
I'm going to be turning in my '05 G35x tomorrow (and getting a new G35, of course.)
I've heard some horror stories about damage claims and issues with other companies and am curious what your opinions are of Infiniti in this respect. My '05 is in perfect shape and I'd hate to get a call a few weeks from now that says I owe for some damage that doesn't exist.
I tend to trust my dealership (foolish, I know), so I'm not inclined to run out and take pictures of every inch of my car.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ken

i turned in my leased g35 coupe this April. Ofcourse I was apprehensive on what the outcome will be.
but to my surprise it went of really smooth. the location i was supposed to go drop of the car, strangely shut down just a month before i was to go drop it of... so the bank sent a flat bed tow truck to take my car.
the walk around was done at my place... the tow truck guy notes a few sctraches on the car... and made sure that the wheels did not have any damage. he said, we mainly look for wheel damage .. you dont have any so you should be good. now the reality was that i was very concerned about the tire tread... which in my opinion was very poor... would have last another 3-4 months tops... which means they were pretty much gone.
i waited for the final inspection report to come ... it took about 10 days... and all i had to pay for was the over mileage costs nothing else...
so maybe i got lucky? or maybe people just make this whole inspection thing out to be a big deal! i guess everyone's experiences vary.
as for you ... as you are giving the car back to the dealer and getting another one at the same time ... maybe they will be a little lenient.
so there you go... started your post of with a positive experience story and not the horror story that we all fear.

Coolnesh...
Thanks for the reply. You've confirmed my assumption that Infiniti is a decent company and isn't looking to make money by screwing its customers.
I'm a bit concerned about tires too, but I have a very recent service report showing all tires are above the minimum required. Other than that, the car is in great shape.
Thanks again,
Ken

good idea on the tire report from the dealer... i did that with the brakes as i thought they were getting weak... dealer comes back to me saying "they are working within manufacterers parameters" ... all other items checked out clean as well... so i was good... only tires were my concern... which usually is the iffy part... but looks like you have yourself covered in that dept.
good luck.
good luck.
i have had experience with lease returns in the past. my mom turned in her 2003 buick rendezvous 4 days after someone bumped into her in the parking lot at the hospital where she works and the rear bumper got scratched and pulled away from the car on the driver's side. The inspector came out and inspected the car and said ok everything's clear and signed the form, however my mother being the good Samaritan that she is was an idiot and pointed out the damage and then they had to fill out another form and they billed her insurance for i think $1000 worth of damage. i was so irritated with her after that, but whatever, whats done is done.
Bottom line is that they arent really picky or incredibly observant on those turn-in inspections. you should be fine.

They came out to my home to do the inspection and was done in maybe 5 minutes. I received the report (2 copies) right on the spot. Minor damages were overlooked.
There is no way that the inspection company knows that you are going to re-lease with Infiniti so there aren't any favors involved. As the previous poster said, they are not very picky.

Just some advice on tires. If at the end of your lease your tires are extremely worn and you're going to take a hit on the inspection, check with your local tire shop for some used tires with tread life in them. There are quite a few people that replace tires due to road noise but the tread would definitely pass the inspection. It was the guy that inspected my Saab lease that told me about it. As for the rest of the inspection, they are only looking for issues that are beyond normal wear and tear.
