I want to buy a 2006 G35 6mt but...

Is the oil consumption issue on the 6mt very common...what's the percentage of cars with this problem? Should I just buy an automatic? It's just the rev engine that has this problem right? I don't want to buy a new car and end up having a bunch of issues with the engine.
thanks

mine is an 07 rev-up with 4500 miles and no signs of oil consumption at all.

i woudnt say the oil consumption issue is very common because if it was there would be a major recall... and if it does happen to you the dealer has to replace your engine under warranty...

and no its not just the rev up engine... the 5AT's non rev up can have the same problem but its very rare...

i have an 05 rev up 6MT with no oil problems at all.

06 @ about 17 grand miles. no oil problems whatsoever.

only squeak is a universl one when you go off a bump or something the sunroof make a clang cause the body is rolling a bit. Its just normal and it causes no major problems.

I love my 06 6mt

GET IT!!!! You wont regret it.!

This is incorrect. If 20 or more cars have oil consumptions issues, then its a problem.

And just look at the tires problems we have. Nissan already issued a recall on all the 350z for poor tread life.

Infiniti still refuses to recognize it. Also this thread, https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-coupe-v35-2003-07/190969-oil-consumption-tsb.html

Nissan is ready to issue a TSB on oil consumptions issues with the 05+ 350z... If you didnt know, its basically the same motor...

So, Infinti is just refusing to issue a TSB because they still want the (Infiniti) brand to = quality. So they are trying to tuck it under the carpet.

That's usually a good idea.

Forums can make problems seem much more common than they actually are.

Thats exactly what I was thinking...It's probably more common on forums b/c the people with problems post all of their problems, not the people who actually have a good car.
