Question '07 G35S Deal Advice

I'm looking at buying a 2007 G35S 5AT with premium, nav, tech, and some other minor options (spoiler, splash guards, etc.). The car was a one year lease with a clean service record & Carfax. It has less than 13k miles and it's in great condition aside from a tiny ding in the grille and 3mm tread on the back tires. I would be getting some Goodyear Eagle F1 all seasons as replacements, since I drive in the rain a lot.

Anyway, the negotiated price is $30,850. I was looking at '08 G35 sedans previously, but this seems like a better option.

What do you guys think? Good deal?

(Tire opinions are also appreciated!)

Thanks -- KBB says $34,135 for excellent condition. The price does not include tax + fees. Taxes will be pretty high, but fees are capped here by law. I've seen '07 sedans around for slightly less, but they're all ex-rentals with no options except sunroofs.

Also, in case anybody else is interested, there's another thread dealing with the tires I mentioned:

what is the build date? Make it's updated with all the TSB's. 13K is not uncommon for tire wear on the Protenzas but it does indicate previous driver style. I have heard people getting more out of their tires. I think 30K is a good price and even better if that was out-the-door price.

Carfax says the build date was ~ 1/20/07.

JayJay: Your point about the previous owner's driving style is a good one. With that in mind, are there any mechanical issues I should look out for?

Dude the previous driver must've been lighting it up at every light. I have 10k miles on my car and still have 75% tread and I've lit it up a few times and constantly wag the tail.

Really? I've heard that the summer performance tires go pretty quickly. Probably not a grandma driving it, though.

In any case, I'm getting a pre-sale inspection from an Infiniti dealer.

Thumbs up

Turns out the tread depth I quoted earlier was off. Either the measurements on the dealer's inspection sheet were done incorrectly or they were not recorded as 32nds of an inch like I assumed they were. There's actually a lot more tread remaining.

The Infiniti dealer gave the car a clean bill of health, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I'm definitely looking forward to driving this thing.

P.S. Thanks to whoever moved the thread.

I wouldn't trust KBB too much. They rarely update their site and also CarsDirect and even USAA (sites from which you can purchase cars at a guaranteed price) show the target price of a NEW G35 Sedan to be almost equal to KBB. Either KBB is wrong or CarsDirect and USAA are wrong.

So Edmund's TMV invoice on an '08 G35S 5AT with prem/nav/tech/spoiler/splash is showing. up as 36-37 (depending on whether you configure it as a sport, or as a journey with the sport package).

Is a 6k markoff standard for an 18mo. old car? (yes it was made 13 mo. ago, but the model came out in oct '06) I would have expected closer to 27-28 (13k times .50/mi=6.5k plus the 2-3k that disappears the second you drive it off the lot). I'm not trying to imply you got a good deal or a bad one, i'm just trying to understand what's realistic to expect when i go in to bargain for a '07

p.s. Be sure to post some pics jstvbmzqx!

It's hard to say what's standard in my area, as that was the only similarly configured G35 I saw on the market in the month before my purchase. The rest were all former rentals with sunroof only and priced around 30k (too much).

My guess would be that if you have more to choose from, you can get a better deal.

That said, I'm happy with the one I got. Edmunds' used car TMV estimator shows me $32,606 (dealer retail), and it doesn't take nav and some other options into account. The price compared well to listings I saw in other areas, too.

Lol, the Irony is stunning. I'm about to post some for some feedback too on a G35S at the same price. Thanks for your post
