2003 107K Miles $14K G35 Coupe
Hello all,
I need some opinion before I go and view this car.
In the market for either a 350Z or a G35 Coupe.
This G35 has about 107K miles on the clock but it's exactly what I was looking for, Silver on Black.
The asking price is exactly what I was willing to spend.
So what do you guys think? Is 107K too much for this car? Is this a gamble?

That's quite a bit of miles, but with it being a newer car, you can bet it was mostly highway miles.
I would want to see a few things before I bought it.
1.) A copy of the person who traded it in's driver's license. This will tell you whether it was some kid who beat the hell out of it, or a someone who drove the car nicely. Obviously, for your benefit, the latter would be much better.
2.) Service records, if they have any. This will show you how well the car was maintained. My car, for instance, had the oil changed every 4500 miles at the dealership I bought it from. Along with a "check-up" every 15k.
3.) I would want to take an extended test drive in the car. Go to the dealership early in the morning, and ask to take the car for the day, tell them you'll return it before closing time that day. This will give you enough time with the car to notice all of the little things that may or may not be wrong with it.
All in all, it's a spiffy-badged Nissan, so it shouldn't have any problems as long as it was somewhat decently cared for. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

So 100K+ is not a red flag for these Gs?
I have never driven/owned a Nissan/Infiniti. Only Toyota and Acura so far. Never had any problems with those. I actually still drive my first 00 Celica that I bought back in 2000, haha. My daily beater is a 94 Integra with 140K miles on the clock. Both with no issues.
However, I am debating if I should go for this G35 or a $15K 350Z with only 46K miles.
The 350Z is pretty nice for the fact that it is low on miles. The G35 has the 2 extra seats in the back. Both are my dream cars. I can actually afford one right now without financing and just straight purchase.
I am stuck. Help?

Do you really NEED the back seat? Are you buying the car simply because they're a badass "race-car"? If so, go with the Z, much better price with less miles. What year/trim package is the Z?
Actually, I'm buying it because I like the styling on both of the cars.
I can't stand driving a car that I don't think is sexy, haha.
As for the race car aspect of it, I am not really into driving fast. As you can see, I am actually purchasing an auto, hehe.
Looking for a car that I enjoy driving.
Doing the daily work shift gets boring. I need something exciting in my life to keep me going, haha.
In regards to the back seat, I don't think I need it that much.
My girlfriend and I rent out a condo and it's just the two of us. It's actually a nice thing to have a 2 seater. This way, no one can really get freebie rides from us.
The Z is a 2003 with 46K miles Enthusiast (sp) ed. Silver on black. Auto of course since I hate driving stick shift cars here in San Francisco. The hills are killers and it becomes an annoyance more then an enjoyment.

Not a problem buddy! I think I would go with the Z for that pricing, and seeing as how it's just you and the girlfriend. If you're planning on having little ones any time within the next, I'd say, 3 years, I would go with the G. Don't get me wrong, I love my sedan, mostly because I love big cars, but I definitely didn't need the backseat.
Trust me, you'll like the Z. They're very nice cars! Nothing wrong with owning a 5AT, either. I've owned stick shift cars all my life, and when I went looking for my G, I knew I specifically wanted an auto, because I was sick of playing the shifting game.

I agree. Played that shifting game 3 years here in SF and I got tired of it real quick. A lot of good times but too many times I've had to wait for a light on a near vertical hill that I rather not bother with it.
If I do get the Z I doubt that I will be selling it for a car with a backseat in the near future. Lucky for me, the girlfriend likes driving sedans or 4 seater coupes, so I know that going forward we'll be getting her the 4 seater and I get to keep the 2 seater, haha.
I'll actually be heading out today to take a look at the Z. Nice thing about having around a 16K budget is that I won't need to finance it. I think it's a deal for that price.
Well Lucky, I think I have just decided. If all looks and feels well today, I'll be picking it up on Monday.
Thank you very much good sir.

if i was in your position id definetly get the Z...less mileage and great price..Not that theres anything wrong with a over 100k G35 coupe but..after a couple years of driving the G you will be well over 150-200k miles..but in the Z you will be under 100k miles in a few years of driving.. i was goin to get the Z but i sometimes like to have 2 extra seats for friends or other things since the Trunk size on the G is horrible lol..cant fit shiet in there...well gl with Z or G..tell us what you purchased and POST PICS!!
eh personally I wouldn't get a car that has over 100k on it unless it was a beater car. Although im not saying that the VQ motor couldn't withstand 100k but personally I wouldn't move on that.
I have 127,000 miles on my 03 coupe. Driven it pretty much every single day since day 1. To this point i haven't had any major problems with it. I had the axel clicking issue, which almost every G prior to 2005 had. I had to replace both the rear wheel bearings and thats it. I have driven the car pretty good too. She was babied, but was given one hell of a run for her money.
This was just about 3,000 miles ago. The car is perfect. Even the interior has kept up. Almost no rattles at all. The ones that did come were a simple fix a screw a little loose or something. Nothing major at all.
