2003 G35 Coupe

http://morriesmazdaoflacrosse.com/Pr...oryId=23609045

Here's a little back story on vehicle. This car is located in La Crosse, WI. Earlier this year in the spring time, I was in the market for a G35 Coupe or a 350Z. Since my wife and I have 1 son (3 yrs old) -- figured a G35 coupe would be more reasonable. They had it listed for 19,900 -- I called Ryan (previously bought my wife's Mazda 3 from him) there and gave him my bottom dollar I'm looking to pay for the car and that was 17,200 -- The deal was a no go since they were only willing to sell for 19,500 at the lowest.

A couple months later, Ryan calls me saying they have had noone come in for the car and they want to sell it to me for my asking price of 17,200 -- Well, I just bought my wife a new 08 Civic EX so I basically took myself out of the market til 2009 for the G.

Last weekend I was in La Crosse, drove through the lot and noticed it's still there after about 5 months. So, I called them up and we're looking to purchase the car.

Aside from the back story, my question would be: Is this reasonable? Taking in the fact that it dropped from 19,900 to 16,900 I'm thinking its a great deal. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

** side note **
Car has minor imperfections - I assume from daily usage like chipped paint on fenders/front bumper - wheels scraped here and there - Nothing too HUGE.

no way.
Still too high with that many miles.
My best guess is that the owner of such a vehicle MAY get $13k on a trade. That puts it at $15k TOPS retail.

Heck... just for fun, I took a quick look at a couple of dealers in my area. One place I've dealt with before has a 6mt '04 sedan with 45k miles for $17,495. A coupe is worth $2k-$2500 more, but an '03 is worth $2k-$2500 less than an '04 ... so that puts their values on equal footing. And that's ASKING price.

For another comparison (sorry, he has no coupes right now), I looked at the Xs he has. A coupe is worth roughly $500-$800 more than an X. He's got an '04 with 68k miles for $14,995. Which leads me to believe my $15k estimate for that coupe you posted is pretty strong.

One more thing, I've been searching for bot g35 and 350z for quite some time now and so many people drive AUTOMATICS! I don't know much of what you other folks have in your area, but around here there are mainly sedans. When I do find a coupe, it's an auto!

I've given the thought of traveling outside MN and past bordering states to try to find a manual. I guess I'm at my wits end ...

Listed on the lot for $19,991.00
Just took an 04 DG 5AT Coupe Aero non navi in on trade... 60k miles. We put 15k in it. Very good condition. 17,200 is a good price, especially if its been there 6months. They probably own it for close to that price. Large dealers pay a floor plan and should never have a vehicle sitting on the lot that long.

But you DO realize you are talking about an '04 vs the '03 posted above. That's a $2k-$2500 difference. So, again, my stated $13k trade sounds like its still pretty accurate. And maybe even a tad high. So I still say $15k retail. Doesn't matter what they have in it. It's worth what it's worth.
