Get a 08 G35x for nearly $4000 under invoice or 09 for $500 over invoice?

Titan, forget about the 3000 or 4000 off, you need to make a cash deal basically showing your dealer what great deal you can get elsewhere. Mine ended up 6000 off, from 38k to 32K, not quite as good as Gspot's deal but still pretty good in my book.
You should be able to do the same and get your car for under 32K, don't pay any more than that especially if it's an 08!!!

yes my 32600 included the $4000 off. This deal is in NY. Matter of fact i picked up the car today without any issues. they gave the $719 in hold back and also another 400 off or so.
It definately is a buyers market right now, especially if you have the cash. I was trying to get 32k but they told me no thnx and we later agreed to 32600
Hi guys,
All you guys are saying 4000 - 5000 under invoice price. The invoice price for 2008 Journey Sedan is $30,891 according to KBB.Com. Does that mean the new car price is around 26,500 + Tax + Misc. But, I also saw people saying they paid 32000 something.
Could somebody please clarify?

A local Chicago dealer has 08's for 8500 under sticker, I suspect you could do better. Problem is the regional dealers are loaded with X's, not many RWD's. There are a ton of 09's sitting in holding yards in So Calif, dealers and Infinity agreed to hold them off until Jan to allow clean out of 08's. 2 local non-Infinity old dealers just closed this week, GM 45% lower sales Oct 08 vs 07. It's grim for these dealers, I don't envy their position but think on Jan 2 a buyer with cash will be able to pick up an X msrp of 40 for 28.5 unless Infinity removes incentive money, then the dealers will just die with them.
Mike's comment
An Infinity Dealer is advertising in the Chicago Tribune this past Saturday g35 coupes at 7k off sticker, sedans at 8k off and ex35's at 8.5k off with specific stock #'s avail for review of content on the web. If the Chicago area dealers do not sell the hundreds of G's and hundreds of Ex's in stock in the next 60 days, does Mike think they will be more or less in Jan? 2 local large domestic car dealers just shut doors in past 10 days here. Infinity sales are way down here. Let's all ask Mike to make a 50 mile drive to where Infinity is holding huge numbers of 09 G37 Sedans and Coupes in large storage lots in a desperate effort to hold an umbrella over the unprecedented inventory of old stock 08's. I said 2 months ago, when Jan comes and pricing reflects the reality of holding new 08's on the lots when 2010's are 9 months away, I may be a buyer. Who's comments do you chose to disregard?

The question becomes how long can you wait though. Some need a car sooner then later. I bought September 24th. If I had bought now I could have saved more then the $1k extra offered between now and then because dealers in the DC area are DESPERRATE. I have a friend I am negotiating an M45 for over the phone. His lease expires in 6 weeks but he's already slightly over the mileage. There are 6 Infiniti dealers I am dealing with and they are all desperate for business. It will only get worse come December/January.
P.S.
I have a friend at Hersons Honda (Rockville, MD) and another at Darcars Toyota (also in Rockville, MD) and both said that Honda and Toyota dealers are feeling the pinch even with the migration of buyers away from SUVs to smaller cars.
December/January will only bring bigger discounts. Just remember though that the cars lose there value over time even if not driven.

08 G35X Premium for under $30,000 brand new is not out of the question by December or January.

Compare
For anyone trying to sell a house, the market will tell you what they are willing to pay and you won't be happy. It's cyclical, that's just the way it is today. Try to buy a Nissan GTR for the window sticker. Won't happen, too few cars, too many buyers. Supply/Demand. Most car makers and dealers face this today, it's not good or bad, just the way it is. A friend just bought an 09 $40,350 sticker Caddy CTS with arguably more content than an 08 G35 prem for 29,800, the product of sharp dealer discounts and a combination of GM incentives. Different cars? Sure, would I buy one? Probably not. But it's illustrative of what's going on this marketplace. And it's not a leftover 08. This is most backed-up, slowest car sales period in a generation so make your deal because in 5 years it will be sharply different.
