Buy from the US or Canada?
Hi I am planning to pursache a g35 Coupe around late March, I like the refreshed look of the 05+ so I am probally going to get that, my question is would it be cheaper to get one from the US with there economy in the state it is in now or should I stick to a Canadian car?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
get it from canada, canaidan spec is different from US, also your gonna have to pay taxes to bring the car over here, not to mention warranty and the US dollar is higher than the canadian dollar
Your question can't be answered until you have more specifics on prices, currency exchange at the time and how far you're bringing the car from. You'll have to consider the cost of importation, inspection, DRL mod, possible state taxes. You will also have a car with odometer in miles and primary speedo dial in miles etc. Do some more research on places like AutoTrader to compare prices.

& With the local used car market where it is today;
...the likelihood of any significant savings is minimal at best.
If you were buying 'today', it wouldn't be worth the agro, IMO

Thanks for your help , I've checked and it would be roughly 3000 to import a car from Florida to Calgary , also I would probally have to change the dash and replace the headlights to make them haw daytime running .... Would probally end up breaking even maybe spending more , I think I'm ganna stick with a local car , anyone living in Canada know of any cheap places to get g coupes ? I hear Toronto has quite a few I'm guessing it would be cheaper to get one from there ...
Thanks again

What do you mean by , the specs are different in Canada .?

The cheapest way is find out the inspection specs for your area (not sure if Canada does it buy province or has nationwide standard) and find a state similar. IN my experience, NY is pretty similar. However, with wait time and the like, the difference won't be enough to make it worth it.
Toronto is VERY inexpensive if you're American. I remember purchasing motors from a spot called Lucky Star back at the turn of the millineum. They were a 3rd of what we pay here (in the states). Also, there's about 4 shops within the Pacific mall that have a GANG of tuner parts. I know I saw Honda and Nissan parts in there last time I went (admitedly it's been a couple of years). I know there's some great tuning shops in Toronto as well because the tuning scene is pretty big there. You might want to also check private owners out that way. Good luck.
