Future buyer in september...few questions :)

Hey guys,

I have always loved the g35 coupe and I am looking at finally purchasing a used 2003-2004 coupe come september when I can put down a nice chunk of money on one.

The only thing that I have read that is negative about these cars, is i noticed there was a TSB on oil consumption leading to serious problems down the road if they are not addressed.

However, I could not find what years specifically this problem affected. Was it certain years or all model years?

Also, the ones I am looking at have around 60-80,000 KM (40,000 miles?) on them. I believe the warrranty is good until about 110,000 KM here in Canada, and I was wondering if the problem with the oil typically arises after the warranty is expired? Or can it happen randomly?

If i was an unlucky SOB, and had bought a plagued car, does Infiniti replace the engine free of charge if its still under warranty? If its NOT still under warranty, what kind of bill am I looking at?

Sorry for the lenghty post haha

Thanks in advance,

Cam

Cam, I'm not a coupe guy, but I will help you a little if I can.

Oil consumption TSB: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...nsumption.html

But in any case I think it's only 05-up with the problem, so you don't have to worry. Some 2003's I think had Brembo brakes, that's a plus (though they use up their OEM pads fast).

I think our warranty is 5 years so you are SOL regardless of mileage unless it has extended.

Keep researching and let us know what you come up with.

The 03 and 04 coupes did not have the up-rev engine and therefore had no oil issues. I know I have never experienced it in my 03. Up-revs were in 05-07 coupes. Hope that helps.
