To Paint or Not to Paint?

I am thinking about selling my 2006 G35 coupe 6MT after three wonderful years.

There are some dings in the paint, one on the side mirror and one near the right front light. I am wondering if I should paint those areas before I sell or leave it the way it is and ask for a lower price? I know some people are picky about buying a car that's painted. So what do you think I should do? Thanks ahead of time.

I think I'd sell it as-is and notify the buyers of the paint chips. This way the buyer would feel like you are being very honest, and if you repaint it, they may think you are covering up an accident. But others may have differing opinions, that's just what I think

DONT PAINT THE CAR!!! Once some one finds out a car is painted they are gonna try to low ball ur offer and you dont want that. Plus when you paint a car it devalues, I see this everyday since i work at carmax. sell it as is

elayman, lakeshore, thank you for teh quick response. What you mentioned is exactly what I feared. Please take a look at the two pics which are the two main paint problems I was talking about. How much do you think I should lower my asking price based on those? Thanks again.

You are getting great advice! Plus I would be impressed if you got your money back out of having it painted.

I might try and get a quote on just the mirror since it can be easily removed and probably cheap to paint but I wouldn't touch the front bumper since it would be hard to color match, and as said above, you will definitely not get your $$ out of it.

ok looking at those two pictures, your car isnt in bad condition. You dont need a full repaint, all you need is touch up. at carmax we dont paint cars and if a car has an issue like yours we use touch up paint. it makes it less expensive and doesnt seriously affect the value of your car

Man, I've been busy over the holidays. The plan is to wash the car, take some pictures and post it up for sale, but it's been cold, so I haven't done anything yet. I'm still undecided on the price as well.

PM me if you have questions. Thanks.
