Altima vs G35
Have an '05 G sedan and on '08 Altima SE V6. No contest for driving experience- the G is sportier, handles better and is faster. That said, the Altima is plenty fast and has a more comfortable ride. It's also got more space and is slightly more fuel efficient. It's just a matter of your priorities.
Not sure about that but its possible. The problem with a 6MT Altima is resale - you're going to have a pretty small market when it's time to sell. Anyhow I'd rather have a used G coupe than a new Altima coupe for the same money.
The main things with the Altima are 1) Front drive is never going to handle as well as rear drive and 2) the Altima is missing a lot of the luxury touches you have in a G.

That said, the OP might consider a G35x if traction is an issue.
The only Altima I would consider purchasing over a G35 would have to be the 06 Altima Ser in red. Ive drove a brand new one when I work at a dealer in 06. I was able to spin the fronts all the way through first and chip the tires shifting into third. However it would depend on the G35 as well. Any coupe or sport sedan G35 would be an easy choice over the Altima. If you are stuck between to the two JUST BUY THE G35 you wont be sorry. Im not.

why is that good exactly...pretty much any manual car with over 150hp can do that
I've owned 2 Altimas, both 6MT SE-R's ('05 and '06, both silver) before owning my current '03 6MT sedan. They only made the Altima SE-R in '05 and '06 (too expensive for what it was, and most people at that time looking for a $30K Nissan bought the Maxima).
Obviously, the biggest difference is the drivetrain, as the G is RWD vs. FWD in the Altima SE-R.
The SE-R is definitely the closest thing to a G35, in terms of performance, luxury, convenience features.
Even though they both share the same engine, the G feels sportier to me, with tighter shifting ('03-'04's had the firm shifter), and the RWD is just fun.
Plus, the SE-R never offered something I LOVE in my G...NAVIGATION.
Sorry, I guess my focus is more on the SE-R's. I HAVE driven a newer V6 Altima sedan M/T, '07 or '08 IIRC, (hard to find, as was my 6MT sedan). I was suprised to discover how cheaply made the shifter was. It just had a very plasticky and loose feel to it that I didn't care for....seemed out of place on a $25K car.
***car addict's confession***
My name is Bryman and I'm a car *****. I've owned probably 60 or so different cars in my lifetime (at least). I've had some pretty sweet cars ('07 Civic SI sedan, '06 MINI Cooper S convertible, '85 CRX Si turbo, celicas, integras, supras, RX-7's, etc), and I must say I enjoy the G as much as any car I've owned if not more so.
This is hard for me to say as I'm a die hard Honda guy
You won't be disappointed with a G
