Prospective G Owner Looking For Advice

Hello all! I'm looking to buy a G35 in the near future and was wondering what your expert opinion is on this ad:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/2310552840.html

Already test drove the car and I'm in love with it. Has a few nicks on paint here and there but, nothing major. Offered him 18k but he said he believes the car is worth more. What do you think my ceiling should be?

Thanks in advance!!

kb value excellent is $21630, good is $20,480....it's allready priced under book value.

You should ask the seller for a counter offer to your 18 or offer 19.

Well, it looks like the craigslist ad has been deleted, so I can't see the details but, just an FYI....

KBB is COMPLETELY WORTHLESS. It is actually owned and run by dealers (ever wonder why trade-in values and private party values are so low and dealer retail values are sky high?)

**rant** Not to mention, what difference does it make if it's from a dealer or individual and why are the values different? Personally, I'd rather buy from an individual who knows the car, likely has service records, and (hopefully) is more likely to be up front and honest with me about the vehicle. Dealers will hide things, lie to you, just to sell you something...**rant over**.

NADA is what virtually all banks, credit unions, and lending institutions use. It is more accurate as well. NADA and Blackbook (dealers only) are what is used to generate loan values.

My general rule of thumb...if the vehicle is decent and it's listed at 5-10% below NADA retail value, it's probably a good deal.

BTW, My '03 G35 6MT sedan, silver, 116K miles, tasteful mods, is listed below NADA. PM me if interested.

Good luck
