Help me choose a G!!
Help me choose a G!!
Hey guys, new to the forums. Seems like a friendly place and I hope to enjoy everything g35driver has to offer.
I'm a 21 year old college student looking to get a 05-07 G35 coupe within the next month or so. I'm located in Florida and would get the car fully insured in Gainesville for about $110 a month, according to a free quote from AllState. Living in New York for 21 years of my life, I always knew we had ridiculous insurance prices relative to the rest of the country. I knew Florida would be a lot cheaper but not this much cheaper!! Pushed me even farther on my quest for a G coupe.
Anyway, I'm looking to spend about $18k, with roughly $2500 down (finance the rest). My dad is really skeptical because he's in the car business (car parts manager for an Acura dealer) and says these cars are a lot to maintain. I don't doubt his credibility because I fully respect his 30+ years in the business, but I question how big of an issue will maintenance be because I don't recall G's having a history of problems. Anything I should know about?
Also, I've been searching endlessly and came up with these classifieds:
http://tinyurl.com/2007g35white
http://tinyurl.com/2006g35black
http://tinyurl.com/2006g35white1
http://tinyurl.com/2006g35white2
I have a lot more deals around but these are the 4 classifieds I have my eye on the most, with the white 2007 coupe being the front runner.
Thoughts?

^^^That's my 2nd choice. I scares me a bit is the 3 small dents he described in the comments.
I have to give all these guys a call tomorrow to see if there's still warranties, etc on the vehicles.

Just saw this on Craigslist. 2005, 56k miles, still under extended warranty (100k miles/2014) all for $16k.

I never had any problems with my '03 G coupe until the time I was low on oil and blew the engine running a full day at the Lagun Seca raceway and the car was 2.5 years old then. Replaced the engine with one that had 17,000 miles on it and have not had a problem with that engine. The car is at 103,000 miles and I still have not had a problem with any other parts of the car, except for the window rollers, but that was years back. Find the right one and go for it.

#2 seems like it was in an accident or theft recovery. New paint and G37 wheels... Id be skeptical on that one.
Offer the 1st white one $17k or even as low as $16.5k
The 3rd one(other white one) looks like some kid might have owned it... black OEMs and red calipers... Id be skeptical on that one too.
Oil consumption is something that a few of these cars have. Thats prob the biggest concern among most of us. Things like bad window motors and acuators are a common problem, but not that hard to fix. There's other little things but every kind of car has their quirks

^ agree.
Man your lucky, I been looking for a g here in cali and prices are high. I mean I don't mind paying 20 or 21 k for a 2006 g35 or 2007 g35 with 20-30k miles. but I wished we had prices like the ones your looking at. The first ones really nice and only 29k miles. Plus it's a really good price.

Go for the first one hands down. That is a damn cheap price. Like said above, offer 17k or less. Maybe they are in a financial hardship and need out of a loan? a dealer would probably pay 18k+ for that car. Couldn't touch an 07 here in NJ for less than 22-25k. I was looking for one, but couldn't justify spending that much on an almost 4yr old car. Would have bought that one in a heartbeat. Color I wanted too.
Really go over the car, looking for paint work etc... Purchase carfax to see the history. Ask for service records too. Good luck.
