Your opinion on this one, please

Hello everyone!

I want to become a G35 driver too and stop admiring it (especially the sounds) from the distance. I came across this offer, that I consider to be good. But I am still unsure and need a 4th opinion from you enthusiasts.

Here the car facts for your consideration:
- 2003 G35 6MT sport package
- Silver
- a little over 100k miles
- clean title, no accidents, loads of maintenance records
- All extras (Navigation, HIDs, Brembo brakes...)
- Exterior super clean, no dents or cracks, only few hardly visible scratches
- Everything works
- No (visible) rust
- Mechanically ok, says the 86 point AAA inspection
- Drives great
- Sympathic owner (the only one), seems to be a reasonable and honest guy
Downsides
- Hard to press clutch (probably normal or an issue?)
- Tires at the end of their life (significant but even wear on front tires, especially on the outer side, rear evenly worn down to indicators)

I must say I am no expert, mechanic or so, but the car was to me in surprisingly good shape. And I like it and know about the glitches in terms of trunk space, gas millage etc.

The price is lower than KBB and also slightly lower than Edmunds TMV at 11k Dollars. At least to me that sounds like quite a good price - or am I wrong?

In other words is this G cheap, fair or pricy? Would you take it?

Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't say it's terrible. But things to think about include are you financing? I would not finance a car with 100k. Its too much mileage. 11k seems slighlty excessive now for an 03 with 100k. But not bad. I would honestly look at a lower mileage z for the same price point. I think you would be better off with something with lower miles unless you're tech savvy. Not saying our cars can't handle more than that much miles, but just make sure you know how used it is. Also check the regulars... all the power locks and windows, oil consumption, brake pads, mods, etc. Andmy personal opinion, never ASSUME that a car seller, private or not, is a nice and fully honest guy unless you know them personally. Just my. 02

And the hard clutch? Well ours is generally stiffer, but also with 100k miles it might be something to look into.

Hello ezpotato,

Thank you very much for your opinion. May be I can get the price down another $500.
With regard to the buyer, I primarily wanted to say, that he was not obviously shady or anything like that.

As you mentioned the door locks, the buyer told me, the passenger side is partly faiiling, in that way the it does not automatically opens, but still always closes.

As to my tech savyness, I do think I can repair the door lock myself. Taking of the door panel, lubricating or replacing the actuator and putting the panel back on is doable for me. But not much more complex things.

So would you say, the G behaves well at that age or is it the very prone to failures?

A Z is not my thing. I really want the little bit of more space. Finding another G in the $11k range around LA is quite hard, especially as a fully equipped 6MT. So that is a factor that makes it more attempting. All the Gs I have seen, that are under $10k are, well, automatic with a salvage title...
Maybe I am not patient enough

Best,

Red

11k for a >100k mile 03 G seems a bit much, especially if it's stock. Clutches are known to go bad on these cars as well as the slave cylinders so I'd have a mechanic thoroughly inspect it before buying.

a 1 owner 6 spd under book is hard to find dude.....i would jump on that if you want it. Just be prepared to spend up to $1k on new tire set and actually replace that door actuator.

Clutch pedal is hard on these cars.

Like some are saying the clutch is a monster to push in these things. Coming from a audi and mustang this thing required me to push in and im not a little guy. You get used to it real quick and its not a deal breaker for me.

Is it a coupe or sedan? Coupes have a higher value then sedans. (Yeah sedan guys i said it get over it). It is also a 6mt with the sport package which includes brembos and such. I say the asking price is fair.

Not bad of a deal, try talking him down a bit maybe mention the tires but don't ask for new tires that’s not going to happen he will more likely give you some money off the car.

Go for it!
