Hi everyone! Nice forum.

I'm thinking of buying an '07 G35S 6MT. This will be my first car in 10 years, since I've been using public transportation. That being said, I used to be interested in racing and I'm looking to make up for lost time.

So on to the questions.

1. Is there anything I should look for specifically maintenance-wise? Two of the cars I'm looking at have VINs in slave cylinder recall range. Anything other problem areas?

2. Should I take it to a mechanic before I buy? I hear different opinions, and I don't even know how I would do so anyway.

3. Searching the forum I see that the '08s have recalibrated ECUs for different throttle response. Can I easily flash an '07 to be the same as the '08s?

4. Does the base sports package get the premium audio, or do I need to get the premium package for that? I can't seem to find what the premium package adds to the sport. Listings for regular sport usually say "premium audio" but not necessarily "Bose".

5. One car I'm looking at is black/black, 07 6MT sedan with 32K miles but no major options other than sport, one driver, previous lease. Dealer is asking 23K. What would be a good offer for this car?

Thanks for your help! I'm sure I'll be asking about mods in no time.

You should always get it inspected by a mechanic. You should also get a carfax on the car. I'd go with a coupe, but go with what you want. If you absolutely can't get a mechanic to check the car, watch out for the following:
Frame damage
Engine noises
And Check if the alignment is straight

Bought One
Thanks for the response. I finally bought one! It's an 08 Sport 6MT with 24K miles.

So far I love it. I made sure to take it to a mechanic before purchase, and they found no major issues.
